Police Shoot, Kill Suspect In Tulsa Standoff
TULSA, Oklahoma - Police shot and killed a man early Tuesday who they said was holding a two-year-old child hostage in a south Tulsa home.
Officers were called to the home in the 4300 block of South 170th East Avenue just before 11:45 p.m. Monday.
They arrived and were met by a woman, her three children and her boyfriend who told police her estranged husband forced his way inside her home. Everyone got away but the 2-year-old girl. When they fled, the 44-year-old man grabbed the child and held her as a hostage.
Police said the department's special operations team was called and about 3 a.m., an officer shot and killed the man when he walked out onto the home's balcony. Police said the man used the 2-year-old as a shield and had a gun held to her head.
