(46,166 posts)North Carolina is a critical loss for the GOP. They desperately need to win the state. The polls are close.
Rove liked to perpetrate against himself or his own and then blame Dems. If it wasn't an ultra right wing group then I smell the stink of Rove tactics all over this.
The article says that nobody was killed. I hope nobody was hurt, either, of course.
I'd like to know if the building was closed for the night and empty of staff. That would make me think, "Hmmmm".

(1,733 posts)But NC is a lot more than the Fayetteville area.
Most states have a violent political history. The Klan/Communist conflict was a pretty strange footnote in our history.
Portland.....Oregon? Bundy? C'mon. You're painting with too broad a brush.
"McCrory said in a statement. Violence has no place in our society but especially in our elections."
I'm sure McCory has lost sleep over the violence at Trump goose-stepping rallies.

... Graffiti that said Nazi Republicans leave town or else was spray painted in black paint on the side of a building next to the Republican headquarters, according to police.
That graffiti, which was also at 353 Ja-Max Drive, included a swastika and was discovered before 9 a.m. by a nearby business owner, officials said.
The flammable substance appears to have ignited inside the building, burned some furniture and damaged the buildings interior before going out, police said. The substance was
in a bottle thrown through one of the buildings front windows ...

... The county is overwhelmingly Democratic. Democrats and independents outnumber Republicans 5-1.
Democrats condemned the bombing. The attack on the Orange County HQ @NCGOP office is horrific and unacceptable, Hillary Clintons campaign tweeted. Very grateful that everyone is safe.
N.C. Democratic Party Chair Patsy Keever called the bombing outrageous.
The North Carolina Democratic Party strongly condemns this attack, she said. Violence has no place in our political system
Our deepest sympathies are with everyone at the North Carolina Republican Party ...

WLOS ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. ... State GOP director Dallas Woodhouse said no one was injured, but a security alert is being sent to party offices around the state ...
Whether the bomb was meant to kill, destroy property, or intimidate voters, everyone in this country should be free to express their political viewpoints without fear for their own safety. We will be requesting additional security at all Republican Party offices and events between now and Election Day to ensure the safety of our activists, volunteers, and supporters, said Dallas Woodhouse, executive director of the North Carolina Republican Party ...

... "The office itself is a total loss," Dallas Woodhouse, executive director of state GOP told The Charlotte Observer. "The only thing important to us is that nobody was killed, and they very well could have been" ...
Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens said law enforcement officials are investigating the incident.
"This highly disturbing act goes far beyond vandalizing property; it willfully threatens our community's safety via fire, and its hateful message undermines decency, respect and integrity in civic participation. I believe I speak for the overwhelming majority of people who make Hillsborough their home. Acts like this have no place in our community."

Second, Trumpo has pissed off one hell of a lot of people who aren't incompetent and bone lazy.
While it might be false flag, the probability is extremely low. They'd pick a blue state for that.

(118,290 posts)There's no upside to going out on a limb claiming a dirty trick before we have real evidence for that
But if GOP folk are saying "We might have had absentee ballots there," then that would be a violation of NC election law we can legitimately ask about
