The nonprofit group Friends of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge obtained a lawyer to work to quash a subpoena from Oregon standoff defendant Ryan Bundy that had ordered them to turn over their records on members and donors from 2011 to present ...

Bundy told the court he wanted to find out if anyone involved in his federal conspiracy trial, stemming from the 41-day takeover of the federal bird sanctuary, were members of the nonprofit or donated money to support the group. He had issued a subpoena, ordering the officers of the nonprofit to appear in court Friday to provide the documents sought ...

In the motion to quash the subpoena, Friends' attorney David McDonald argued that the records and documents sought weren't relevant to the case, the request was "overbroad,'' and Bundy was seeking the information as part of a "general fishing expedition'' ...

The matter was resolved after Ryan Bundy provided McDonald a list of trial witnesses, government attorneys and judges, and the lawyer for the nonprofit reported that none of the names were on the Friends' membership roster ...
