Josh Barro: Fuck it, I'm out: Why I finally left the GOP to become a Democrat.

To borrow a phrase from Rubio, they know exactly what they are doing: They are taking an action that risks the destruction of the American republic to advance their personal interests.

They know what Meg Whitman knows about the risks Trump poses to America. Rubio himself warned specifically of the risk of Trump starting a nuclear war! But they do not care.

I can only conclude from the available evidence that they love their careers more than they love America. And they are why I quit the Republican Party this week.

Meg Whitman, John Kasich, Ben Sasse, Jeb Bush, Lindsey Graham. These folks maintain a modicum of respect from me.

...he/she and he/she alone. POTUS does NOT have to get the approval of Congress, nor sign-off from the Joint Chiefs of Staff or a consensus from the Vice President or Secretary of State. NO ONE! The nuclear "football," which is the secured launch codes themselves and the vehicles necessary to access and use said launch codes, accompany the POTUS wherever he/she goes. And again, LAUNCHING NUCLEAR WEAPONS IS THE PREROGATIVE OF THE POTUS ONLY, AND MAY BE LAUNCHED AT ANY TIME THE POTUS DEEM IT NECESSARY. Let that sink in... The power to effectively destroy humanity -and basically all life on Earth- could conceivably be given to Donald tRump. Again, let that sink in...

We need to be careful that all these defectors don't drag us further right.
