by Joshua Green
October 12, 2016
"Were going to turn him (Bill Clinton) into Bill Cosby," Trump campaign manager Steve Bannon says.
.. the campaign will soon bring forward new accusers: Women are coming to us who have been groped or sexually abused by Bill Clinton.
Trump is considering featuring these women at campaign rallies to give witness to what Hillary Clinton actually did. The Republican nominees decision to close out his campaign by attacking what he alleges to be Bill Clinton's history of sexual violence, and his wife's role after the fact, suggests the next few weeks could be among the ugliest in modern presidential history.
On Thursday night, the Trump campaign will begin a new media blitz, his advisers say, with Broaddrick, Willey, and Jones appearing together on a one-hour Fox News special hosted by Sean Hannity. Additional interviews will follow.
--snip--
The purpose of Trumps sudden, intense focus on sexual abuse is twofold. First, to distract attention away from the 2005 Access Hollywood tape recently obtained by the Washington Post that shows Trump making appallingly lewd remarks about women. Second is to depress enthusiasm for Clinton among a key voter bloc in her quest for the White House: millennial women.

The point will be to muddy the waters, declare equivalency between all misdeeds real and imagined, blame the media, and hope women stay home.

(10,252 posts)The only thing that Trump will accomplish is to show decent people even more - what a small, hateful, mean-spirited, and vindictive man he is. And stupid! No body cares about Bill Clinton's peccadillos that happened many years ago.
I hope that Hillary puts more energy and messaging into the aspirational and uplifting part of her campaign. The American people are so so ready to hear more positive and inspirational messages. She needs to channel her Obama hope and change message.

(50,986 posts)Trump's advisors must be desperate and bitter at this point.
They're poor citizens but not so thick-skulled that they don't know that Trump-Pence will not win this election.
They're in a precarious position and running out of ammo fast. Plus now they have to answer for allegations by various women of Trump's unwanted sexual advances.
At a certain point, things just aren't worth doing. Maybe we'll see Kellyanne reach her "Unless" moment in the next 48 hours. She could walk out late Friday afternoon, for example, leaving the rest of the crew in the lurch.

I don't know what Melania is up to, but I hope she's considering taking some time away from the greed hogs in Trump Tower and the psychopaths Trump's hired as surrogates. That just can't be a healthy environment.

In 2014, Bill Cosby, once considered a US national treasure, was at the start of a rapid and dramatic fall from grace as more and more accusations of sexual assault came to light.
One man who thought the situation was sad and was quick to share his thoughts on how Cosby should handle the situation was the now Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
In a 2014 interview from the red carpet for an event he was attending with his wife Melania, the billionaire offered Mr Cosby some PR advice, encouraging him to defend himself against the multiple sexual assault allegations instead of remaining silent.
I think its very sad and frankly I dont think hes handling it well, the 70-year-old told E! News. He should say something because hes being accused of terrible things and to have absolutely no comment, I think hes getting very bad advice from a PR standpoint and he should do it differently. Hes not doing a very good job of handling it.

(3,245 posts)than Trump himself. It took a few days after the debate to start putting two and two together. Kellyanne Conway is married to George Conway who back during the Starr investigation was one of his "elves" along with Ann Coulter and a couple of others.
They couldn't get President Clinton so now they're going to go after him again through Mrs. Clinton's Presidential run.
It's starting to look like revenge on their part as opposed to a Presidential campaign.
