Clinton campaign chief: Florida should extend voter registration deadline due to Hurricane MatthewThe Buzz (Tampa Bay Times political blog), 10/6/16
The voter roll is scheduled to close Tuesday. The storm has forced Democratic-leaning political groups to cancel planned drives over the next few days to sign up new voters.
"The one thing that we are hoping and expecting is that officials in Florida will adapt deadlines to account for the storm," campaign manager Robby Mook told reporters in a conference call. "Our hope would be that a little bit more time would be given for people that were expecting to get registered before the election."
Elections supervisors typically see a surge in voter interest right before the registration deadline.

(1,266 posts)"I'm not going to extend it. If you, if you... whether it's the registration date, you hadn't, everybody has had a lot of time to register, so, uh... On top of that, y'know, we've got lots of opportunities to vote, uh, early voting, abs'ee voting, and election day, so I don't intend to make any changes."
Having lots of voting opportunities don't mean much if you didn't get a chance to register because of an event like a...hurricane!
