(7,813 posts)There was a short lived TV show called My World and Welcome to It. It had Thurber's drawings in it and I was entranced. You can watch some of it on YouTube. His best short story was called The Night the Ghost Got In. How can you not love something with that title?

(27,742 posts)Books live in any media anymore. Books on tape don't count.
KCRW in Santa Monica used to read stories from the New York Times at lunchtime everyday on the radio.
And along time ago some guy used to read the Sunday comics panel by panel on TV early Sunday morning.

(7,911 posts)Worst mistake the network ever made was letting him get away. It's been going down the tubes ever since.

(31,236 posts)some its shows, specifically Joy Reid & Rachel Maddow. Keith was a strong anchor for the 8 - 11 p.m. portion of the day, but I think it was his behind the scenes prima donna schtick that got old.

But as a matter of personal taste, I don't care much for the rightward turn MSNBC has taken, so in that sense, it is going down the tubes as far as meeting my own personal preferences for unbiased, accurate reporting.

(31,236 posts)opposing party. I still don't understand how that justifies that the entire network is "going down the tubes". For all it's faults, MSNBC is a pleasant alternative. They didn't file for bankruptcy when KO left, so apparently they have maintained an audience without him.

(34,136 posts)And he has been on almost every show from late afternoon on every single day for the last couple of months.
I still watch MSNBC in preference over any other cable news channel but I don't watch it as much as I used to. The moment Trump, Hewitt or one of the other right wing parrots comes on, I change the channel. I've been clearing off my DVR on a regular basis.
While I enjoy KO, He can be irritating and I get the impression he has a very healthy ego. He also has a temendous talent at skewering right wing stupidity.

(31,236 posts)It's probably the same over at Fox. I think I remember the people who worked closest with KO having issues with the ego thing. I'd love to see him back in his old spot, minus the ego.

(838 posts)His rants were cathartic for me during those Bush years! I don't know anything about his behind the scenes, off camera stuff, nor do I care. The guy kept me sane during 8 insane years of Cheney and Shrub.
