In Good Reads: Art of the Steal: How Trump lost $916m and avoid tax, by his biographer
Because threads in Good Reads can get overlooked, here's a link to an important one - an article in The Daily Beast by David Cay Johnston, the Pulitzer Prize-winning investigate journalist who wrote a biography exposing Trump. It's an explanation of how Trump probably used the laws on real-estate tax to get the tax write-off for the $916m for himself, but handed the real loss to lenders (who he would have tied up in litigation for years) and people who unwisely invested in the publicly traded "Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts" company in 1995.
