Anyone want some cookies?
Habanero cookies:
5 Habanero peppers or more. (I think using a combo of orange habanero and red chiles will look really nice.)
2 sticks butter.
1 3/4 cups sugar.
2 1/4 cups flour.
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon. (or more)
Preheat oven to 375.
Wearing gloves and on a plastic cutting board, seed the peppers and chop them finely. Transfer them to a bowl. Take off gloves, wash hands, wash board. Add the butter to the bowl and melt in the microwave. Stir, and let stand for at least ten minutes (the chili flavor infuses the butter... this makes the whole cookie spicy and you don't get nasty surprises when you bite into a piece of pepper. I used more like an hour.)
Beat the butter with the sugar until well combined and cooled to room temperature.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon.
Gradually beat flour mixture into butter mixture.
Drop by rounded tablespoon onto cookie sheets. Bake about 8 minutes until just golden around the edges. Cool on the cookie sheet for a couple minutes before transferring to a rack.
