He claimed to be one of those fiscal conservatives but socially liberal. I countered that there's nothing liberal about killing ahca. "It's a flawed system." So I said, the gop plan is "go out and die in the street."
Bs. Bs. Bs. Then I said, "ok. Tell me the better gop plan. I'll Google it right now. Who wrote one?"
Silence. Pouting. I win.

(344 posts)You found a sane one. I've had to deal with "you liberals had a lock on which sources were valid. We don't recognize your sources anymore." You can't debate with delusional people.

(182 posts)I have to ask though.....because I was offended by 1 of your earlier posts about the "lower rung, uneducated..".....is being belittling of the person you are interacting with, the best path to change the mind of someone that claims to be "socially liberal"? "Silence. Pouting. I win."
Why not just be informative as opposed to dismissive or confrontational?
Yes I'm low post count but that earlier post was offensive to those of us on the "lower rungs"

(24,412 posts)is pretty much the only plan that Congress was able to pass back in 2010- and even then, only barely. The GOP helped drag out the process by pretending to deal with Obama but really just wanted to kill the whole thing like they did back in 1993-1994 (and, irony of ironies, ACA was essentially the GOP plan from back then). Despite their undying hatred of the law, six years on, the GOP have yet to fill McCain's "blank page of paper" and/or even communicate a viable alternative plan while there have been plenty of ideas to improve the law from our side. We just can't anything else passed while the Republicans run one or both chambers of Congress, so the best we can do right now is defend the gains we have made under the ACA and fight for renewed Democratic control of Congress and the WH.

(12,545 posts)because the insurance lobby was forking over 1.4 million a day to get favorable language into the bill. A public option would have driven costs down significantly, but Senator Max (I'm not on the take) Bachus removed all possibilities for it.

(32,723 posts)He was claiming the Affordable Care Act was the REPUBLICAN plan to counter "Obamacare" which he claimed was defeated by the Republicans.
In their world "Obamacare" was "a government takeover of the entire medical profession".
The fact that health insurance still exists is proof that "Obamacare" was defeated.
