Even as a kid, Donald Trump's wealth baffled me.

I remember hearing about him filing for bankruptcy, and yet I kept pictures of him flying in his private jet and living in his golden palaces. I kept on wondering why he'd continue to live so ostentatiously and frivolously if his business was bad.

Even back then, before he got super political, I knew how to smell a rat.

because he was spending too much on himself while in bankruptcy.

of course he argued that he was keeping up the value of his properties by living large.

i'll admit to being a partisan, but this candidate is the.worst.ever! he makes shrub (worst president ever) look positively statesmanly!

Made no sense to me how this little pipeline company, Houston Natural Gas changed their name and became this behemoth of a company. Turns out it was all gas. I think that's true with the Cheeto Bandito- he's just a lot of hot air that has scammed a lot of people.

I highly doubted that people in finance truly cared what Trump thought at that time! I also doubted that the money went to charity since Trump struck me as a charlatan back then too, but who knows?

Trump Said He Gave $1 Million To Charity From His Board Game. There’s No Sign He Ever Did.
Huffington Post, 6/10/16

The Milton Bradley executives were shocked. During more than a year of planning, Trump had never mentioned giving the proceeds from “Trump: The Game” to charity, Blair wrote in The Trumps: Three Generations of Builders and a Presidential Candidate.

big guys do. On a much smaller scale of course.

He buys this tavern. It's a once popular hangout that was mismanaged. A seemingly good opportunity. His two partners make this guy managing partner. So he works there full-time and draws a pretty good salary for back then. That was late 80's and I heard about $20 thousand. Not bad for an average Joe type job in my area, but no way in hell would you pay a head bartender at a tavern like that that much. There were a few people around town who would have been worth that much, but not this guy.

So the next thing you know, his sister in law is working there, and he's not really around much! The place is losing money but he's not, he's getting paid. Also his sister in law for doing what is supposed to be his job. Any expenses that are nickle and diming his partners to death, he's probably making up for his share any number of ways. Taverns are great places to screw your partners.

They ended up going under and had to sell the place. But for the one guy, it was just a nice little side gig while it lasted.
