?1475484775This article from today's LA Times has stirred up a lot of memories and feelings that I had tried not to think about for the past several years. Those feelings are difficult to ignore when your former boss is running for president of The United States of America. There's little escaping hearing his name and seeing his face on a daily basis, unless you want to go live off the grid in the back of beyond, which doesn't sound half bad.
10 years ago I was working in the restaurant at Donald Trump's golf course, the one mentioned in this article. It's located about 5 minutes from where I grew up. I worked there before he bought the place and continued to work there after. I brought him his eggs for breakfast and his favorite clam chowder for lunch countless times. Somehow I passed for being attractive enough to wait on him. I know I wasn't his first choice and I wasn't his type. He didn't make me stand there while he put his arm around me and made the other men at the table tell me how beautiful I was like he did to my friend. I didn't get sent home or not scheduled for work on the day's when he was visiting the property, but plenty of my female coworkers did. I was in my mid 20's at the time and I could tell that was pushing it for being able to be in The Donald's presence. He wanted to see girls still in their teens, the thinner and prettier the better. If you didn't match this you could expect to not be scheduled, you could expect to be in line for getting fired.
I guess the reason I'm writing all this is to offer another true example of this man's deplorable character. Sure, there are much bigger issues at stake in this election. Trump giving the "you're fired" to women who didn't match up to his unrealistic beauty standards is not number one on the agenda. But it does highlight the disturbing nature of his mentality. Being a woman and consciously choosing to vote for this man, is choosing to vote against your gender. It's choosing to let this sexist bully get away with discrimination against not only women, but immigrants, minorities, and the working class.

(5,106 posts)Trump was very average-looking . Without his money he'd have just been Mr. Ordinary. Since his personality was based on being a conceited braggart, w/o his money it would be hard to like him at all. Looking at other men who are seventy or a few years older, he doesn't measure up to most actors of course, but there are very few public figures around his age (excluding a few well-known rich Repubs,) who don't look waaay better. Normal, "older" red-blooded women, tell me: Donald or Joe Biden?

(63,221 posts)based upon their looks. Kerry blows him out of the water in every single way - looks, intelligence, manner, poise. Trump cannot compare.
Dark n Stormy Knight
(9,760 posts)Kerry is too much like a "professor" (you know, intelligent, well-read, well-spoken) for many women to find attractive. He might have some money, but he doesn't brag about and it enough for them to realize a gold-digger might do OK with him.
I suppose all of the below average appearance-wise women who are supporting him accept that they are fat or flat ugly pigs deserving of no love or respect.
How the Hell else can we explain them? I hope many of them who can't let their feelings be known among their domineering men-folk and subservient female friends are secretly planning to vote for Hillary on election day!

I hope it's women who bring Trump down.

(23,997 posts)...appealing, Trump would be an excellent argument for celibacy.
Even if he were physically attractive, his attitudes would also be arguments for celibacy.

(14,337 posts)I had the "honor" of being singled out by him when we were in our 20's. Why me? I'm hardly a model type (5'1" , but I am very thin at 98 lbs. Hearing all his comments today about women's weight, apparently he was obsessed with that even in his 20's.
He was a creepy, obnoxious young man and it's even worse in an old man running for the Presidency. I told The Donald to get lost in my 20's. I will be saying the same in my 60's, with my vote. There is something very wrong with this man mentally on so many levels.

(12,389 posts)I have often noticed that the best waitstaff are the ladies and gentlemen who have been in the business longest and not only "know their stuff" but sincerely have pride in offering their clientele a relaxed and memorable dining experience. The best restaurants in the world value this type of server and bend over backwards to keep them on their staff for years. Obviously Trump only eats at his greasy spoons; otherwise he would know that.

(115,716 posts)I found this article: http://www.legeros.com/fof/rainbow/tears.at.end.shtml
The Rainbow's other ornaments are its waitresses-- patient, silver-haired professionals with names like Rose, Hermina, Dorea and La Vaughn. Some of the total staff of 75 hope to stay on after the remodeling, but a few have made other plans.
Waitress Mabel King considers herself "a new girl." She has only worked at the Rainbow for 13 years, while Hulda Westgard is a veteran with 39 years to her credit. Ruth Scheftel, the accountant, has been with the Rainbow for 54 years, but she's casual about her record. "It's nothing, really. I jus wanted a summer job while I went to college, but I stayed on," she said.
"I grew up in here," said Amanda Lillard, who has been a Rainbow waitress for 29 years. "I'm glad they're closing 'cause it's the only I'll get out of here other than in a box. Oh, I quite twice, but I came running back before they had a chance to miss me."
I loved that place.

It's fun to construct a cross from which we can martyr ourselves. It often allows us to feel more relevant than reality dictates.

(15,220 posts)That Trump was doing this is bad enough. That he was getting away with it is despicable. He surrounds himself with enablers and preys upon people who are in no position to argue with him or fight back.
THAT is the real definition of "asshole".

(11,686 posts)their act of voting for him but I in some sense feel sorry for the women who are voting for him because I see women who have been abused and beaten down by hateful men all of their lives and truly believe that a mans word is the only word. They had been taught that women do not count. I do not know if it is just me but that is what I see when I see these women.

"day's?" Who forms a plural with an apostrophe? Anyone who graduated the second grade knows that English does not form plurals with an apostrophe, and yet the rest of the article seems coherently written. I'd like some more backup that this was written by a real person. It is a believable narrative, but "day's" as a plural? Less believable.
