To any thinking person, Trump blaming Hillary for any and everything that happened over the 30 years is ridiculous, but she needs to make the ridiculousness of his argument stronger. I think she failed many times tonight to call Trump out on his bullshit. She won, no doubt to me, but she is not closing the deal and she is still leaving wiggle room for this bigot and we should not take this lightly.

(9,350 posts)I mainly agree with you, but I think Lester Holt being such a horrible moderator helped Trump. Holt failed to control Trump for most, if not, all of the debate. Throughout most of the debate, as Clinton tried to defend herself Trump tried to prevent her from speaking. On the other hand, I do not think Clinton interrupted Trump once. It is hard to defend yourself when someone refuses to let you speak and you are trying to be polite.

(891 posts)I think Hillary won this hands down, but I'm speaking about the red meat that she left on the table. Hillary won the last 3/4ths of the debate. Trump won or tied the first 1/4th. We need pure shutout as they are setting the bar so low for him.

Why not, yeah why not? Just join the debate by saying more crazy things.

She didnt let him bog her down trying to defend every little thing, she concentrated on the points she had to make.
She could have gone down a long line. But that would have just let pressure off of dipshit donnie. She did great by saying that and keeping up the attack on him in just 2 sentences at the same time.

(40,416 posts)I'm speaking of how I felt before she pulled away. She clearly won, but she is not being nearly as aggressive in pointing out the bullshit arguments he is making. When I watch recaps, if you just watch the first 15 mins, it's not clear who won... I'm saying she needs to come out stronger... taking stuff for granted is the reason why this race is even close in the first place.

(17,314 posts)Routinely rhyming off all the problems of the country and issues from around the world, some real and some vastly exaggerated, and then insist we can do a better job. Rarely would you be required to provide an actual solution, just critique the incumbents, tie them to "disasters" and tell everyone you're the only guy who can fix the problems, details to come later.
Drumpf is so full of hot air, it's unbelievable.

(9,350 posts)I actually liked that she took responsibility for her actions, said she made a mistake, and then tried to move on to other things. Compare that to Donald Trump and the birther issue, along with other issues. Trump is still trying to blame others and not take responsibility for his actions. He could have easily said, "You know what I made a mistake. For years I said things I should not have said. If I could go back and do it over again I would change things. I would now like to move on to other things."

(82,383 posts)Imagine if Hillary changed positions on something of which she had been so firm a backer as he was with the birtherism.

At the end, she calmly walks up and shakes Holt's hand. Then engages the crowd.
Meanwhile, Trump is staggering around back by the podiums, totally lost and unsure of where he is or what has just happened to him.
