She said this in a hearing on the parents' requests to lift the no contact orders they had against their son, Arcan Cetin.
Now alleged to have shot 5 people to death -- using a gun belonging to his pro-gun, pro-2 Amendment stepfather -- Cetin is still under the terms of a deferred prosecution for assault. The terms required him to avoid alcohol and drugs, not to possess firearms, and to have mental health counseling on a weekly basis.
If Cetin's parents lied to the judge about "removing" their guns, and he is convicted of these deaths, shouldn't they be liable?
More and more this case seems like the Connecticut school shootings, or the Colorado theater shootings -- not the work of an international or religious terrorist.

On Dec. 2, 2014, court records show Cetins parents were present for a hearing to lift the no-contact requirement.
A prosecutor asked about firearms, and Cetins mother said those were removed, according to court records.
A day later at a separate hearing, a judge granted a motion to cancel the no-contact order.
As the case continued in 2015, additional counseling was recommended, court records show. They also show that case was tracked with a separate Island County case involving another alleged victim.

(108,991 posts)I haven't seen anything indicating his religion other than photos of Byzantine Christian art in their living room.
If Cetin is convicted, and his parents lied to the judge about not having guns around, then they bear part of the responsibility.

(7,681 posts)btw, I see you you have really latched on to this Byzantine Christian art thing. What does that have to do with anything, and why do you repeatedly post about it but not show it? Let's see that art if it's so important.

(20,586 posts)as the gun status had to do with a no-contact order.

(108,991 posts)to guns. So they couldn't just get rid of some guns, and then acquire others. Not as long as they allowed him inside..
And they did allow him to live with them again after he moved out, because he had no other option. So he was living with them for at least some period of time after the no contact order was lifted.
In any case, it sounds like mental health, not religious, issues were behind the alleged shootings.
