http://www.politicususa.com/2016/09/23/hillary-clinton-drops-debate-bomb-trump-releasing-19-pages-fact-checked-lies.htmlHFA Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri said, Donald Trump has shown a clear pattern of repeating provably false lies hoping that nobody will correct him. As we head into this debate, we want voters and viewers to be on alert that they should keep track. Any candidate that tells this many lies, clearly cant win the debate on the merits....
The release of so many pages of fact checked lies was a brilliantly clever move from the Clinton campaign. Palmieri repeated the Clinton belief that the moderator should be fact checking Trump at the debate, but since it has been made clear that this isnt going to happen, Clinton is giving voters and the press all of the materials that they need to fact check Trump in real time at the debate.
Throughout his entire campaign, Trump has been allowed to lie without consequence, but that is about to change at the first presidential debate.
19 pages? Single-spaced? 8-point? Double-sided?

back in the Cronkite days, maybe.
But in recent decades?
The operative term in American Politics is:
IOKIYAR
Sadly, I wouldn't expect the corporate media to recognize truth and facts
if they bit 'em on the ass.
Sorry, but I am that cynical about our corporate media.

Nothing about the obvious nonstop Trump lies?
Really?
The OP was clearly making the point that Trump lies are so many one could actually (quite easily) fill more than 19 pages. You actually took issue with that?!? That was not in any way a slam on anyone but Trump.

gratuitous
(82,849 posts)But they'll have 19 pages of stuff that they can't ignore. "We didn't know that was a lie!" suddenly loses all potency when the participant repeats something his adversary called him on the day before. If Trump has a conscience at all, he won't be able to say a word.
Which means he'll yak non-stop.

(82,849 posts)Or she can take her time in the debate talking about what she wants to discuss, and let the campaign call out the media the next day for overlooking dozens of Trump lies.

(14,175 posts)It is a well known fact that members of the Bin Laden family were allowed to leave in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. I guess his "lie" was that he said it was just before not after. Still the essence of that is a truth. It was one of the more questionable moves by the Bush admin.
Using the 9/11 commission report as backup is also garbage.

(43,049 posts)I don't know where the idea came from that moderators should fact check. They rarely, perhaps never, never have.
I know that we have never had a candidate so disdainful of the truth as Trump before, but "facts" are slippery things and are often not so clear. If anyone should be fact checking, it is the opponent on the dais. The debaters, however, all tend to stretch the truth for their own purposes-- when that stretch becomes a lie is a good question. Yes, I know, Trump really doesn't know the difference and just says whatever pops into his mouth at the time-- this is really new territory for a Presidential debate, but still shouldn't be the time to set new rules.
Now, after the debate, when the pundits and gassers get together to tell us what we have seen would be the time for them to tell us who told the biggest lies.
It would be fun to have a Truth-O-Meter at some point.

They will not read his false statements' rebuttals. That is only more conspiracy fodder to them.
Lets just focus on registering people and postal voting.
Of course, let's also keep an eye on hacking the system.
