If it is - having a gun is not illegal - right? However, it does give a cop an excuse to kill whomever he/she wants - just by saying that this person had a gun and I felt threatened.
So in a way open carry is also open killing.
So is open carry really a license for cops to kill people of color - if they choose?
Think about that.
As long as we're talking guns - I hear that Trump is advocating 'stop and frisk'. Now for all you second amendment advocates - how do you feel about that? Is Trump really the candidate that wants to take your guns away?
Oh - I know that some of you will say that he only meant guns that are on a 'person of color'. But think about that - where does it stop - and when will it impact on all others?
Remember that old saying:
First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.
Think about that in relation to guns and taking them away:
First they came to stop and frisk inner city gang members and I did not speak out because I was not an inner city gang member.
Then they came to stop and frisk Muslims and I did not speak out because I was not a Muslim.
Then they came to stop and frisk other people of color and I did not speak out because I am not a person of color.
Then they came to stop and frisk me and their was no one left to speak out for me.

(3,580 posts)On who can carry and how. You can still be considered open carry if your gun is on your vehicle. You can carry outside your property if the gun is easily in view. You can't brandish a weapon but that's open to whatever the cops say it is. I wonder how they justify having any reason to speak to him when he had the gun in view in his truck. Even if he had the gun in an ankle holster as long as it wasn't concealed that in its self is no reason to ask about his gun. The police in open carry states cannot demand you disarm solely on seeing a gun, you have to be doing something with it or suspicious behavior.

(5,811 posts)I thought this part was especially interesting:
North Carolina is a traditional open carry state. You MAY open carry in a motor vehicle. However, localities may regulate the carrying of firearms under certain circumstances.
