1. How many newspapers have endorsed Trump?

And then...does it matter these days? It used to carry substantial weight, but now I'm not sure how much sway the newspaper endorsements carry.

4. I would think that if over whelmingly the vast majority of papers endorse Clinton
Sun Sep 25, 2016, 12:15 AM

that would have an effect. If it's just 60-40 or 50-50 it's not going to carry any weight

Republican. But the Trib even when they endorse a Democrat they tend to still print mostly nasty shit about them. It's as if they only endorse the obvious best choice so as not to look foolish in the end. The trib has always been a shit ass paper

There are some editorial boards which endorsed Romney in 2012 that have now endorsed Johnson (aka 'throwing away your vote').

Trump only got 4 endorsements during the primaries, including his son-in-law's paper (NY Observer) and the National Enquirer!

13. Newspaper endorsements might hold some influence

with the 60+ crowd who still pick up a newspaper. Otherwise, the effects will likely be very limited.

15. Yes they are

but they are of negligible influence, IMO. Some have pay walls, but few people are willing to pay. Advertising revenue online is only a tiny fraction of what newspaper advertising used to command. Diminishing revenue means fewer reporters and that translates into less original and local stories, so a weaker product ensues. Much of what goes into modern papers is wire copy, which can usually be found via numerous sites. It's all a vicious circle, and there are fewer and fewer reasons to pick up a paper or go to a paper's website.

16. I doubt there will be even one endorsement...Here is why
Sun Sep 25, 2016, 09:39 AM
Sep 2016

Newspapers are businesses...
People on editorial boards are often business people
Business people sign contracts with other business people and unions.
It is important to live up to contracts that business people sign with other business people and unions....

Now this last one.....Trump does not live up to contracts...and is famous for that............

Therefore............the business of newspapers will not endorse a person who makes it a habit of not living up to contracts...it is how he does business...therefore all will endorse Hillary

except....the ones that he/his family owns....

I don't take the local paper. I used to, but they are too sanctimoniously red, and I got tired of their regular teacher-bashing editorials; I'm a teacher.

I might have to pay attention to them long enough to find out. I'm predicting Trump.

Edited to add: having gone looking, I couldn't find an endorsement yet. They DID endorse Kasich in the primary.
