Sheriff Taylor as a diabolical villain sounds just too good to be true. FWIW the history museum in Mt. Airy NC is well worth the visit for many reasons including Mayberry.

It looks absolutely lovely. My niece and nephew live outside of Asheville - unfortunately that is VERY pricey.

Now matter what, I'd love to visit. My Dad was a HUGE fan of the Andy Griffith show so it would be a fun visit, in his honor.

Martinsville, where I live, has mansions for what efficiencies cost in big cities, and Roanoke and Lynchburg metro areas are very affordable and as close to mountain recreation as Asheville. Western NC is getting fashionable but the mountainous outskirts of the Piedmont Triad (Sauratowns, Uwharries, Brushies) all very affordable.

the only real difference was that Lonesome started out as a vagrant grifter, not a millionaire. But, the rest is pretty uncanny.

Andy explains the last scene:

I think the less fanatical have already started to erode. I'm hoping there are some who might maintain the facade, for the fellowship, until it comes time to actually vote.

But how any veteran could support him, after what he said about McCain, proves that their misogyny is stronger than their patriotism.

He's slammed Blacks, rich, Latinos, women, etc, but NEVER has he been heard to say anything like "boy, my supporters are like sheep! I can manipulate them into doing & believing ANYTHING!" I mean, he never directly slammed THEM!
