...whether he's even able (or willing) to fathom advice is another question.

Donald Trump is preparing for the debates WAY more than he wants us to believe. All part of the expectations game. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/trump-builds-clinton-profile-debate-228578?platform=hootsuite
Trump team builds 'psychological profile' of Clinton for debate
Donald Trumps team has created a detailed analysis of Hillary Clintons debate style including her body language and verbal tics with the goal of helping the GOP nominee exploit weaknesses during Mondays debate, according to three sources familiar with Trumps preparations.
The psychological profile, as the analysis is being called, is based on a statistical analysis of videos from 16 years' worth of Clintons debates, dating back to her 2000 campaign for Senate in New York, according to the operatives. They said it was assembled with assistance from a political data firm called Cambridge Analytica that specializes in psychographic modeling of voters and donors, and that Trumps top advisers have been pleased with the results...
For example, according to one of the sources, an operative who works with the campaign, Trumps debate prep team believes that the profile proves that when "she doesn't know the answer, she says this, etc. The goal, said the operative, is to get Trump to recognize the tendencies, so when he hears her say 'X' he knows what is going on, and can respond accordingly.
Another source, who has advised Trumps aides on analytics, said that Trumps debate team is using the profile to coach the candidate on the most fruitful moments and responses to aggressively challenge Clinton.
They think this psychological profile can predict how shell respond based on her body language and other stuff, and to tune Trump in to recognize and leverage that, the analytics operative said, though he questioned the efficacy of the technique. Its really wacky pseudo-science.

(2,061 posts)You know they are. This is a valid technique, especially if one is new to the public eye but if team Trump thinks his 'tics' are not on display, and have been for over two decades, they are as delusional as their candidate.

(8,964 posts)that might surface at some point. It's all part of the process. Sadly, substantive issues don't matter all that much in a debate. It's all about style, aggression vs composure, directing your opponent into tricky territory, and of course puling out the zingers ("there you go again", or "please proceed, governor" .

(3,226 posts)The media will eat it up and the next day the clips will be of Trump "performing" not of Hillary answering the questions.
Fasten your seat belts next week could be a ruff ride, we may not get the moment we want Monday night. Trump has been coached not to "lose it" all he has to do is stand and not be an Ass hole for 90 minutes.

I think that expectation of a Trump 'performance' victory will be his undoing. He's a terrible actor.

(3,226 posts)The media has treated Trump all year you will see that they always play him "up" while putting Hillary "down" I am afraid the story on Tuesday will be how Trump out preformed while Hillary did not Knock him out, the media will give it to Trump and we will be hearing all week has the race has been "reset" the media wants it close to keep up their ratings, facts will not matter.

(85,998 posts)...hard to ignore what he's said about them in this campaign and the way he's barred and excluded many of them.
I don't think they need to prop him up to get ratings at this point. I think they'd get more mileage with the emerging scandals surrounding the crooked cheeto.

(67,111 posts)blurts out whatever comes to his minuscule mind. He's a crude, brash, rude/coarse and vulgar real estate hawker. He lacks any mental sophistication, especially when it comes to psychological manipulations. Trumps mind says F you when he's insulted/frustrated/challenged.
...I'd have to think the Clinton camp has a few tricks up their sleeve to bait him into exploding, like they've done throughout the campaign.

(3,226 posts)I think Hillary's best tactic is to relax and be her self and keep her answers short, simple and to the point. With luck Trump will bring himself down if not Hillary still comes off looking strong but if she tries to bait him and Trump does not take the bait Hillary will be said to have failed.
