When a teenage girl riding her bike collided with a car, cops didnt simply take her to the hospital but instead handcuffed her, pepper sprayed her, and threw her in the back of their squad car.
A bystanders cell phone footage shows the 15-year-old girl from Hagerstown, Maryland being loaded into a police car Sunday. At this point the girl, a minor whose name is being withheld, ask to speak with Zack, an officer she says is black, unlike her arresting officers who are white. Then, while the girl is handcuffed in the back of the car, police are seen firing pepper spray at her through the window.
I cant breathe! the girl screams.
Instead of taking the girl to the hospital like they initially told her, police took her to the police station for interrogation. But her lawyer said she never should have been in the squad car in the first place.

Manhandling, pepper spraying and disallowing medical care is not proper treatment after an accident.

There's nothing about a red light in the article, nor trying to run away. Nor fighting. . . .

According to ABC News, the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident said that the girl caused the accident by hitting the side of his car as he was driving through a green light. The driver told officers that the girl didnt want to stay and wait for police, saying, We almost had to forcibly keep her here.
The video shows the girl resisting officers attempts to stop her from leaving the scene. She is subdued, handcuffed and eventually put into the back of a squad car, but not before reportedly kicking the body camera off an officer.

(1,975 posts)4. There is also video of it
In another post here somebody posted the body camera of the incident. My guess at what happened is she had pot on her (she did have pot on her) and freaked out because she didn't want to get in trouble for it. The cops were trying to get her info so they could call her parents and she really freaked out. She was actually friends with one of the police officers there and he tried calming her down as well.

There is no excuse for how they treated this injured young person.
