A bystander asked the officers why they were treating the girl like a criminal, only to be told that as a minor, the girl is legally not allowed to refuse (medical) treatment.

“What happens…when she’s like, ‘I’m fine,’ right, and has a brain injury or something like that, and then she could die later?” the officer said. “And she’s going to come over here and fight us when all we want to do is make sure she’s OK.”

The officers shut the door and then unloaded a can of pepper spray into the back seat of the cruiser through a cracked window. In the video, the girl can be heard screaming and crying out that she can’t breathe.

After gassing her in the back seat — and in spite of their insistence that the teen needed immediate medical attention — police took the teen to the police station to be booked for disorderly conduct, two counts of second-degree assault, possession of marijuana and failure to obey a traffic device.

Cops nation wide need to be retrained and the Racists weeded out. There needs to be a nation wide set of standards that each Police department must abide by, or perhaps a special Federal task force of the Justice Department is brought in to investigate. These abuses MUST STOP.

I just viewed the video and it's unbelievable how those 2 cops was man handling that little girl. And just because she wasn't being cooperative, it looked like she was ok...all they had to do was maybe follow her to make sure she made it home ok but no, they had to slam her into the car and force her in there as that one cop pepper sprayed her continuously. That was ridiculous! I could be wrong but I feel if this was some little blonde haired/white girl, they wouldn't have pulled that crap.

9. Zero ability to adapt

Many cops handle everything with zero control. The girl hit her head and might have been acting out of the ordinary, or just a rammy teen, like most of them. They could have tried to de-escalate the situation. Instead they went from zero to 100 and did all they could to further upset her.

We moved to a new town and were headed to a tennis center the other day. There are 2 schools on the road and a line of cars waiting on the shoulder to turn right and pick their kids up. We were going to turn right and go down the middle lane which was clear and had nothing to do with the school line. As I signaled to turn, a cop standing there literally exploded for no reason. Ran towards our car that contained kids, yelling, gesturing violently, waving us to keep going and not turn. Zero attempt to even explain. His face was pure rage, and did not fit the situation at all. It was a very quiet back road, nice day, the line had just formed so he had no reason to be irritated at any of the people there. It was as innocent a situation as there could be, and legally we did nothing at all wrong.

And this was an area of 95% white people. Just imagine how he would have behaved had this been anything more serious or in a black area.

She was not moving when they grabbed her off her bike and began manhandling her. What they were SUPPOSED to do is treat her like another human being. You ask what I would've done? It looks like she was worried about being caught with some pot on her. At the beginning they just wanted her to sit on the side and get her info so they could get her parents down there to make sure she was ok. It looks like it escalated from there.

20. Not exactly what happened according to the driver of the car.

It sounds like the girl ran a red light and ran into the car.
There is damage visible to the side of the car that indicates that what the driver stated is what happened.
If that is the case the young lady was attempting to flee the scene of an accident that she caused.

The cops handled this situation very poorly.
The cops did not need to mace her when and in the manner they did for damned sure.
They do have a duty to investigate and report on the accident.
She was wrong to attempt to flee the scene of an accident she is responsible for causing but that in no way excuses the way the police handled this.
