Contrary to CNNs suggestion, no one deserves or does not deserve due process. U.S. citizens on American soil are guaranteed due process rights by the Constitution. Those rights include being informed of ones charges, the right to counsel and a fair trial. (Even non-citizens on U.S. soil are entitled to these rights.)

CNNs discussion of Rahamis legal rights appears to have been prompted by the comments of top Republicans. Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, lamented that Rahami was given medical treatment and is entitled to a lawyer provided by the federal government to defend himself in court, if he cannot afford one on his own.

(82,383 posts)that's un-American and unpatriotic. In this country there is no such thing as an accusation that can make you lose your rights. Why do stupid people get these talking on air jobs? Anyone who would say such a thing is an idiot.

(115,735 posts)no matter how heinous the crime was that someone is charged with. Charles Manson, Timothy McVeigh, and Jeffrey Dahmer (to name a few) were horrible criminals but they received the fair legal processes the Constitution mandates. Why should Rahimi be treated any differently? Why should the very suggestion that he's not entitled to due process even be mentioned?

(478 posts)is entitled to those rights and as much as I hate the KKK I would defend there rights That is what makes America what it is. I guess all of those super patriots who support Trump don't care for the America we have they prefer an America where your right are not absolute but are merely a whim
