http://www.newsweek.com/bridgegate-question-why-chris-christie-not-charged-500650On the second day of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this summer, Chris Christie, a former federal prosecutor, took the stage for 15 minutes to lay out an indictment against Hillary Clinton. After each alleged count against the Democrat, the New Jersey governor asked the crowd, Guilty? And the crowd chanted, in unison: Lock her up!
There was no chanting on Monday as another federal prosecutor in New Jersey read another statement, this one alleging that Christie was personally aware of a crime that was committed on his behalf, as it happened, and that he did nothing to stop it.
The remarks shocked the courtroom and begged a question that has been hanging over Christies head since the Bridgegate case was charged: Why was the governor himself not indicted?
(snip)
Its possiblewe don't knowthat the governor may be one of the unindicted co-conspirators," says Assemblyman John Wisniewski, who chaired the legislative investigation. "The government made it very clear. They did not hedge: They said the governor knew about the lane closures while they were happening. That is damning. That puts him at the nexus of the conspiracy.
As for why he remains potentially an unindicted co-conspirator: The governor may have learned from his days as a U.S. attorney how to insulate himself by keeping the records, the paper trail, at a minimum. Whether or not that status changes will depend a lot on what is said, argued and entered into evidence at this trial, he says.

The $650/hour taxpayer paid top gun defense team may have a lot to do with the asshole skating by.

Just my opinion but now that Christie has sided with Trump he does not wear the protected coat of the establishment. Yes he is former DA so has the skill set to avoid producing any incriminating evidence but no longer wears that coat of protection because he sided with Trump so if any evidence does come up the establishment through the media is going to pile on and Christie will crash and burn.
