I'm sure he enjoys the violence - maybe not so much because it's exciting but because he thinks it makes him and his supporters look like tough guys who aren't to be fucked with.

Trump knows this accusation is true. There's footage of his barking in a manner which his volatile supporters interpret as greenlighting verbal and physical violence against protestors. It's not a string of accidental events. He does it repeatedly and on purpose with pre-knowledge of the likely crowd response.

But if he publicly states that it's merely to add excitement, he evades criticism. He ignores the accusation except to say it's not fair. "Oh no, it's not an incitement to violence -- it's just to add excitement." The instruction he's giving to his supporters is, "Keep doing what you're doing." Wink, wink.
