Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsGood! Joe Scarborough got holy hell this a.m. from EVERYBODY on his panel when he seemed to
go along with the false equivalency of Trump and HRC on the gun protection issue. Did Scar really THINK he would get a way with it?
"...and see what happens to her." That is the most revolting thing that has come out of Trump's disgusting mouth to date. Joe was rightly taken apart for defending Trump's words.
He actually argued that there was some validity to the Trump/Pence/KellyAnne Conway line comparing HRC's SS protection with the 2nd amendment rights of citizens. Bullshit! It was a thinly veiled threat to a violent attack on HRC herself.
Katty Kay had to school him on what HRC's reasoned argument (keeping guns out of the hands of mentally ill people and criminals) was. The rest of the panel pointed out that the SS, like the police, had a legitimate reason to carry guns, sanctioned by law.
Joe was comparing her reasoned, factually informed argument with some vague reference to a citizen's right to have a gun to protect his family.
The panel was in full revolt and Joe had to back down, mumbling "I guess I'm in the minority here." Um, yes.And for good reason. You don't go around sanctioning an attack on a presidential candidate in any way, shape or form. You just DON'T.
The segment isn't up yet on Google but will be soon...
I am pissed...

(3,284 posts)that Mark Halperin, of all people, was recognizing how horrible Trump's statement was.
And in another segment, Joe was trying to say that the way Dems view Trump today is no worse than the way Repubs viewed Bill Clinton in 1992.

(413 posts)I know many reasonable Republicans who voted for Clinton in 1992. I couldn't believe it during the campaign but it was evident once the results started coming in.
92 was a magic feeling, didn't feel it again until 08.
They're voter base is shrinking and ours is groing; Trump is a sure sign that their party is dying but we must always be on guard because something else will take its place.
We're going to win this election and it isn't even going to be close.

(14,566 posts)Rare for these pscychophants to actually stand up to him and risk having their heads bashed off the table like an intern, or worse, lose their cushy gigs, but this MJ, they have played the game of tearing Hillary down to create a horse race and when Trump pulls close they are like WTF did I do? and over compensate (not saying that this bs by trump is acceptable) ...

(63,912 posts)sticking power. They lost big this this time.
Also keep in mind the media is taking a drubbing for coddling Trump and people are just fed us and attacking the media, as they rightly should, for not going after Trump's outrageous remarks and continuing their false equivalancies. Their comfort zone is gone.

(6,587 posts)trying to compare Trump's comment to a public figure, professional security or Secret Service alone to a regular citizen as myself is a bizarre reach showing you know you are lying. Secondly, it is a lie that Clinton has ever said she was trying to take guns away or Dems are trying to do that.
That show just pisses me off so I don't watch it anymore.

(11,569 posts)Trump's previous comments about being able to shoot someone and getting a pass were right. For example, see how he has been able to indirectly call for Hillary Clinton's assassination, more than once, with no negative consequences. A regular person would have been behind bars by now. However, Trump, being a wealthy, white man, gets away with it, every time.

(58,670 posts)is that it is America's love of guns and the gun culture, and the proliferation of military grade weapons amongst the population that make the militarized SS details necessary to begin with.
If there weren't so many fucking nuts out there with AR-15s and AK-47s, we wouldn't need our candidates to wear bulletproof vests in public and surround them with armed guards.
Oh, and Fuck Trump, and Joe Scabrough.
CTyankee
(63,912 posts)we have plenty of evidence that even saying that she should give up her SS protection is tantamount to saying you want her assassinated. Tracked down in cold blood by some nut with a gun.

(28,264 posts)And she damn sure doesn't favor depriving law enforcement personnel of their firearms. And that's what Secret Service agents are: law enforcement personnel, protecting individuals who are the potential targets of the heavily-armed, insanely hateful segment of society, every single day. Fuck you, Donald Trump. And fuck you, Joe Scarborough.
Wounded Bear
(58,670 posts)They "know" what Clinton wants to do because their "leaders" have been telling them for years. Any day now, the Obama gun-grabber demons are going to knock on their doors and come for their guns. And if he doesn't get around to it, they are sure that his expertise in gun confiscation will be passed on to any Clinton administration.
The fact that the actual confiscation of all guns is about as likely as the 2d coming of Christ never enters anybody's mind.

(61,695 posts)it was bad for trump because it was the second time he's done it;
That Trump right winger crazies will take it as an order to try and hurt HRC;
HRC gets death threats every day and has for decades, hence the need for protection;
Her position on gun control is limited to expanding background checks to prevent mentally ill and criminals from getting guns, not against Second Amendment.
