I Love George Takei - But I Beat Him To The Punch By 3 Days - What The Hell?

I posted a thread that read:

Obama Took A Vow to Defend This Country

That Is Exactly Why He Is Campaigning

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028163109

I did not use the term "Foreign and Domestic" but that is the section of the constitution that I was clearly referring to

Instead of being praised for my insight I got hammered for my misuse of the word vow - The president takes a vow to Protect The Constitution - not the People of this country

Presidents always use the rhetoric that it is their number one job to protect the people - that is where I was coming from

But the self-appointed DU correctors saw it differently and my thread sank

3 Days Later:

George Takei tweeted basically the same thought with the same mistake

http://www.democraticunderground.com/12512422840

A DU'er posted it and it quickly became the Greatest Thread with comments such as - Brilliant, Perfect, Priceless, Spot-on and of course "Oh My"

Now I, of course, am no George Takei - I don't have a tenth of the personality he has

But, I offered up this insightful thought 3 days before he did - What The Hell?

I'm not sure if you are suggesting Takei took your thoughts and ran with it (e.g. plagiarized you), but that is how it sounds.

I really think you could have made a post that didn't sound quite so self-serving on the order of "great minds think alike"... For that folks would have likely congratulated you...

George Takei doesn't know who the hell I am

I'm pointing out that the same thought from a different (un-famous) person can be easily dismissed

Wow yourself for missing the point twice - they had their chance to give credit the first time but instead chose to tear me down

If you're not a woman, this is how it feels most of the time, especially when you posit a good idea and people ignore it, then someone (male) steals it! Welcome to Venus!

I hope you have been able to sleep at night through these trying times. If you wanted to come off in this thread as a whiner throwing a temper tantrum, mission accomplished.

The oath(s) referring to enemies foreign and domestic is a military one; the President is not in the military. Commander in Chief is a civilian post and the only oath is to preserve, protect and defend The Constitution.
