Cause that's sure what it seems like. You really are as close to the brink as you can get.

he has spent the last year lambasting the media, calling them all sorts of reprehensible names, even singling out journalists in front of his rabid and feral supporters. The fact that they just come back for more abuse is sickening.

(877 posts)That's exactly what I was thinking. You want him as President? -- He's not going to be a friend of yours.

(1,074 posts)Dear Media, you all have to also live in this world that will be created if Trump becomes President...you will own it! Just like those of you in the media that did not do your job in properly critiquing Bush for his election and re-election (and, his run up to the Iraq war). You own the creation of the mess in the Middle East and the creation of ISIS! You own the fact that we were heading for a depression under Bush! You own all the other horrific things that the Bush administration created! And, now you're pummelling Hillary to death about every issue that comes up about her, but look at how much you let Trump get away with...you just let it slide! There are a countless number of things that Trump has done that are worthy of keeping a spotlight on him about, but yet those stories just get dropped! Dear Media, DO YOUR JOB!!

(2,062 posts)I have been done for 2 years. I no longer watch any cable news or network news for that matter. I used to watch MSNBC for an hour or 2, but even that network is pushing Trump. Its ratings, money and power. A Trump presidency will not be a boring showdown between president and congress, but a circus. Imaging his first state of the union address..... what a horrible thought having all aspects of govt in the hands of radical right wing zealots....that could be where its heading...

This nation will become everything the old Soviet Union was. State run propaganda, I mean "news" if he wins. I don't want to even think what a President Trump would be like. 😢😱

(38,445 posts).Why?..that is how CEOs are determined for these large international corporations.. The CEO must be a hard working person, who is dedicated to the corporation and its survival in competition.. and the CEO must be reliable to those ends...Drump is not reliable, and the media will turn, but in a couple of weeks....it will be something incredible to see......
The media will turn around in a week or two, it will destroy Drump.

(9,213 posts)and then in the final 2-3 weeks of the election will step up and take him down.
Isn't there an old media saying about how the more they build you up, the more they will want to see you fall. They haven't built Hillary up at all, but they sure are making sure Trump is on the front pages and tv screens all the time. They will make sure as much money on his eventual implosion as they are on his rise.

(6,342 posts)If they have ratings this high with Trump running...imagine the ratings if he were to be president. It's a 24/7 reality show for 4 years. They'd love it.
What makes you so certain the media is on any side other than profit?

(21,754 posts)"Wants a horse race because it's good for ratings."
Sorry. The media WANTS Trump to win. That is glaringly obvious if you actually pay attention. This is a powerful weapon to have on your side.
Apparently they do not care that he wants to tweak their freedoms of the press to make it easier for him to sue them. They do not care that we would become at least a semi-fascist country. They do not care that many people would lose their right to vote or that there will more racial oppression and violence. They certainly don't care if the planet withers slowly in front of them.
They have been given their mission from "corporate HQ" and they love those pay checks at any cost to anyone else.
The only "game changer" is those lowered taxes for the wealthiest that Trump has proposed and no fucking talking heads on the tube are going to ruin that for them.
Our ONLY path to winning will be to GOTV

(6,231 posts)And they do not care that Trump and Ryan want to destroy Social Security, Medicare and Obamacare. The fools who support Trump and are on these programs think they will be protected. Not true.

(6,231 posts)A very wise progressive talk radio guy, Norman Goldman, has other thoughts on a close race. (I stream his radio show via WCPT Chicago Progressive Talk radio 6-9 eastern time). He said a close race is not all that bad for our side. Why? It will motivate those who truly don't want Trump to win to vote. Millenials have moved to Hillary because they realize their lives will be a living hell with a Trump Supreme Court for the next 30 years. So not all is lost. We must work like hell to GOTV. Hillary has an excellent ground game. Trump has no ground game.

(9,426 posts)This election is only one tiny bit about politics, more about entertainment. Those reality shows pale in comparison to "What will tRump, Ivanka, Eric, Donald Jr. say next that defies intelligence"?? The tRumps see themselves as Kennedys only without the intelligence, experience, charisma, concern for working people and empathy. I doubt that they are nearly as rich as they claim. If that is true, why is tRump paying his own campaign (at inflated costs) for expenses? He even had to use someone else's charity money to buy his own painting of himself!! Ghastly.
