With the present plan, Clinton will spend her time fact checking Trump and not getting her own ideas out there.
A better way is to have the questions given to the candidates before hand and there are strict time limits for the answers and rebuts. Each candidate can decide how much time to spend on their own ideas or opponent's.
. The questions are the same for each and should cover major issuess.
Example:
Abortion
How does your plan differ from your opponent?
How will you balance your budget?
What civil rights areas are you interested in protecting?
Candidate 1 speaks, candidate 2 speaks, candidate rebuts, candidate 2 rebuts.

(833 posts)but it's an unfortunate truth that candidates of any party usually respond to such questions with talking points. They change the subject, immediately, and talk about what they want to. It will be up to the moderator(s) to hold them to account by posing followup questions, and don't hold your breath 'till that happens. Even pointed followups don't usually work. About the best we can hope for is that moderator's questions will rattle T-rump, and he'll get off his script and bury himself.

Trump will not go into detail, because he can't remember much or because he has refused to do the hard work to cram for the debate.
He has always had it easy, maids, butlers, I bet he even paid people to do his term papers and maybe even his thesis. Happens all the time. One of my classmates even bragged to me that he paid his secretary to do all of his projects, papers, and his final paper. I saw her work, very professional.

(1,307 posts)Hillary beats up Trump at a moment during the debate, and like Donald sometimes did during the other debates, he would just stand there and take it with a tight, sheepish "let's move on" grin on his face - and in his silence, Hillary says, "not so weak and feeble, am I?"
