The President of the United States is the highest office of the land. They have to do press conferences (something Hillary obviously doesn't like doing). They have to give speeches. They have to lead the country and form policy. They have to meet foreign leaders.

This isn't a 9-5 desk job. At any second of the day the President could be called upon to make life and death decisions. If there is an illness that could effect their decision-making or distract from their duties, that is very important to voters to know. Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer's in latter year of his presidency. And it was being hidden from the public. That's very bad for obvious reasons. But even John McCain was questioned heavily concerning the skin cancer he had in the past. Hillary couldnt even get herself in the van on Sunday without people dragging her in as fast as they could so the cameras can't see. Then they don't even go to the hospital. People are obviously going to ask questions.

The campaign even admits they handled it wrong.

Should the people trying to help her into the van have let her fall on the ground in order to satisfy inquiring minds? You are not really comparing apples to apples here. You are acting as if a male candidate was never scrutinized with the medical history. Yes they have been...John McCain was at first. But he was medically healthy and his cancer had cleared.

In the past, it was easier to hide medical problems. Voters didnt even know the extend of FDR's inability to walk. No one had any idea of JFK's pain problems. But that's not because of "male privilege." It's because back then information didnt travel as fast. It was easier to conceal. And the media wasn't quite as cut-throat. Before the 1960 elections, presidential debates were not even televised. It was over the radio. Medical technology also wasn't as advanced.

Today, these candidates are in front of the cameras EVERY SINGLE DAY in high definition. Every little bump on the face is scrutinized. If FDR was running for president today instead of the 1930s, he wouldnt have a chance of winning.

On DU, we make fun of Trump's orange-ish color to his skin. We laugh when a naked statue is made of him or when "little hands" jokes are made. He's criticized and mocked constantly just as Hillary is. It's just the way it is now.

Even when she's speaking on things important to me and she's saying good things, she just doesn't resonate with me at all.
