Got a call from my spine doctor earlier and she said that I need to go to the ED as soon as I can, because apparently they can do expedited MRI's and she is afraid that I am developing Cauda Equina Syndrome. That would lead to even more disability than I already have. Please pray hard for me, consider donating, and pass this link around? We really need support right now.
To tell you all the truth...I am scared out of my mind.
I will post a video update from the hospital later.

(12,675 posts)We are sitting in the ED waiting room. It's insanely busy and there are no open beds anywhere, so I'll probably end up on a gurney in the hallway or something--and it'll take 6 hours to even get THAT much. Sigh.
As soon as we are somewhere a little quieter, I will do a video update. I love you all. I kinda feel like I have this huge circle of friends here and/or on Facebook that are holding me up every time I feel like I'm gonna fall, and trust me, right now, that's a LOT.
I am so, SO scared of this surgery though, guys. Have any of you ever had Cauda Equina Syndrome and the subsequent surgery to fix it? If so, how did it work out for you?? I would love an honest idea of what I might have in store for me. My primary symptoms right now are slight saddle anesthesia, urinary retention, and severe lower back/leg/hip pain.

(21,691 posts)I have a herniated disc, spurs and stenosis. There are days when I can barely walk, and getting in and out of bed is almost impossible. I sleep in a recliner for up to 3 months at a time, walk as much as I can and do all those damn exercises. Knock wood, right now it's just bad in the morning and I can sleep in a bed again. I take Norco and Baclofen.

(5,435 posts)She went to the ED late this afternoon.
I just got off of the phone with her, and the attending doc is sending her to imaging for an MRI tonight...
If this is indeed Cauda Equina, they will be doing emergency surgery to try to avoid her suffering any more nerve damage than has already been done...
