Students at Ohio University petitioned the school to have Roger Ailes name removed from the newsroom at Ohio Universitys Radio-Television Communications Building. The petition called him a "national symbol of sexual abuse" and demanded the university cut ties with the disgraced former Fox News chairman. The Undergraduate Student Senate and the Graduate Student Senate agreed, passing a resolution calling for his name to be removed.
Yesterday the faculty agreed and just like that, the Roger Ailes Newsroom signage was scraped off the wall.
The distraction from the teaching of the Scripps College of Communication has weighed heavily on my mind as I deliberated over the sustained effect on our university community should we continue to have our newsroom named for Mr. Ailes," McDavis said. "Given the allegations against Mr. Ailes, the circumstances surrounding his departure from Fox News, Ive decided to return his gift and remove his name."
The gift was a $500,000 donation to renovate the newsroom at the university. Students applauded the move as a good start toward addressing sexual misconduct:
"We weren't expecting an announcement tonight, but we're glad he said something all the same," Chapman said. "There's still more to be done, and there are lots of other issues relating to sexual misconduct that still need to be addressed, but this creates a good platform to move toward those changes."
Indeed. Bravo to Ohio University students and officials for taking action, even in an era of endless budget battles for public universities. There are some things money cant buy.

Robin Camp is a judge of the Federal Court in Canada. Camp is the subject of a high-profile removal hearing before the Canadian Judicial Council for his role in a 2014 sexual assault trial that he presided over.
He's the guy who asked a rape victim in court - "why didn't you just keep your knees together?"
Robin Camp was appointed to his judicial position by THIS guy:

(82,849 posts)He'll always have lots of money, and fawning folks will always be looking to Ailes for his advice as if it's worth something, but losing this silly accolade might actually sting the old fraud's massive ego.
We'll know when Fox mentions the story and bemoans the overkill and cruelty toward poor Roger, and why can't liberals just let him fade away in peace?
