It was a reaction to a medication for my heart rate. I got very light-headed, realized what was happening, got my head down at once, and then I was fine.

I reported it to my cardiologist, he had me stop the medication, and that was that.

all because blood and or injuries were being shown or talked about. I fainted in health class in Jr. High, in drivers ed in high school (movie where car meets train), and a couple of times at work when watching a required first aid movie. Ironically I'm also accident prone and have never fainted after I've broken a bone or gotten hurt. It is a really crappy feeling when you realize you're about to pass out.

So, no, it is not only hot weather that can trigger. As it turns out, the migraine (and the toll that a lot of excedrin did to my stomach) kept me from eating enough and I was hypoglycemic and felt a very hot rush throughout my body right before I hit the deck. I am in better health than I was two decades ago and have no pre-existing health conditions--including normal BP... Only goes to show it can happen to anyone.

while doing landscaping. I experienced knee buckling and loss of conscious. I also made my way to the ER after coming to for a thorough check-up to make sure that I wasn't experiencing anything else since the collapse had come out of the blue and I was used to working under such conditions. Had an EEG and blood work-up. Came back as somewhat dehydrated and with protein in the urine. Was given the OK to head home. A very scary incident and very glad that I sought out medical attention after it happened. You can never be too careful.

I almost passed out from putting my head back once when my blood pressure was really low.

I probably had mild heatstroke when I was a preteen. To this day I can't take much heat for long.

We'd just started. I served twice, next thing I knew I was flat on my back under a tree with a wet cloth on my head and one of the guys fanning me with a piece of cardboard. This was about a month after I'd relocated from New Mexico to Virginia, and the unaccustomed heat and high humidity nailed me. It was a bit of a shock for a physically active 29-year-old.

First time, in the first grade, while simultaneously getting a diphtheria vaccination in one arm, small pox vaccination in the other. Assume this was from panic about getting the shots, not the shots themselves. Those were my first shots - this was way before antibiotics, way before Salk, way before infant vaccinations.

Second time, in the second grade, coming down with what I now recognize as mono. Diagnosis at the time was "yellow jaundice".

Mr. Thirties faints fairly often, thanks to his excessive sweating and consequent dehydration. Apparently both too much and too little sweating can be problems.

When I heard she'd fainted at a 911 memorial, my first thought was heat exhaustion.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]The first time was definitely heat related. I was about 12, on a trip with the Girl Scouts to Washington DC. We had been standing in the hot sun for a long time, awaiting our turn for the White House tour. Next thing I knew, I was looking up from the sidewalk and frightened chaperones were bending over me. Shade and hydration worked quite well, and I was fine for the rest of the trip.

The second time, I was about 29 and had just had outpatient surgery the day before. I stood up from my chair and awoke on the carpet, staring at the ceiling. The doctor said it was probably a drop in blood pressure related to residual anesthesia in my system. Rest and taking in more fluid ensured that it didn't happen again.

There are many, many benign reasons for fainting and it can happen to anyone at any age.

I've fainted a few times from being overheated. You just have to rest and relax a bit. My husband's trick is put your hand in cold water. It works every time. Oh and now I jump in the pool to cool down. Not an easy thing to do when you are dressed up, though.

Once, as a teenager, marching in a parade in Sacramento in the summer, and they made us all take salt tablets (BIG MISTAKE).

Once last year, when I became overheated just moving around the San Fernando Valley.

And two years ago, I was hospitalized for an intestinal blockage that they never did find the cause for, but suspect it to have been a complication of dehydration after attending Oregon Country Fair.

46. One faint - passed out about a week after a concussion
Sun Sep 11, 2016, 07:47 PM
Sep 2016

I was knocked in the head by a horse and was out for about ten minutes. A week or so later, went to a picnic with some friends and passed out. My husband was freaked, thought it was something to do with the concussion. At the emergency room they said I passed out from hyperventilation, but I started that when I came to while they were driving me to the hospital because I was panicked.

I've come close to passing out from over heating - spots in front of my eyes, feeling woozy - while working on the farm - I ran the hose over my head to cool off quickly. Twice after injuries - getting hit in the face with a horse's head and getting bitten on the breast, crushing the outside half of the breast - I went down to my knees, fighting shock while walking back to the house from the barn.

Then there were the other three concussions but those were not faints.

times during my last pregnancy. Low blood sugar from not eating frequently enough made me feel really weak. I recall waiting in a long line at Walmart and I was so glad it was one of those rare times that my husband actually went shopping with me because I had to go sit down on a bench right away. I just couldn't stand in that line for another second. I've never felt like that outside of being pregnant, thankfully.

Got dizzy, started going down, grabbed the horse's neck and almost pulled HIM off his feet, as he had been asleep. Good thing he woke up in time, so we didn't land in a pile on the floor of the barn, with me underneath him. Don't know why it happened, probably not enough sleep, not enough food, etc...
