over a year ago to reinvigorate his brand, but in the process, "One industry site estimates that Trump's hotel business overall may be down by almost 60 percent".

How has this man survived as a businessman for so many years? He is an absolute disaster and now no one wants to work with or for him.

In a recent deposition, Zakarian, who owns a Michelin-starred restaurant in New York City and who is a judge on the Food Network show Chopped, said the Trump kids may want to reconsider whom they were fighting in court. "If they should be suing someone, they should sue Donald senior, because he fucking did this. He did this," Zakarian said. "He rendered this Chernobyl. He did it. So they should sue their dad."

10. The unusual thing here is that Trump may for once be in the right on the lawsuits.

According to the linked article, Trump signed contracts with two celebrity chefs to open restaurants in the hotel -- contracts that were "quite lucrative for Trump." Then the restaurateurs "backed out" of the contracts. Trump has sued them, and on that very brief statement of the facts, it certainly seems that Trump has a good case.

11. They probably didn't anticipate Trump being a complete dipshit

The restaurant business operates largely on the backs of immigrants and especially at the high end you must have the respect of your employees. Not many are going to want to work for an unapologetic racist and xenophobe.

12. That by itself wouldn't get them out of their contracts.

Now, IF they took note that Trump has a history of making outlandish public statements (even before his current campaign), and IF they thought about the respect factor that you identify, THEN it would have made sense for them to protect themselves. They could win the lawsuits if, in six-point type on page 47, the contract says that the restaurateur can terminate the contract if the landlord (presumably The Trump Organization) or any of its executives does anything to impair the image of the contractor, or the like.

Absent such a provision in the contract, they could argue that it's implied, but that's always a tough row to hoe.

That one party to a contract starts insulting immigrants or otherwise acting like a complete dipshit is generally not relevant to interpreting the contractual obligations.
