Happy post 911, you corrupt, mendacious sack of ......

http://www.villagevoice.com/news/rudy-giulianis-five-big-lies-about-9-11-6424659

just can't understand how monsters like him don't wear a beard.

the article in the Voice is devastating, and any host/commentator could make him more than a little uncomfy if they hit him with some of these factual gems.....

here's a good example:

''I think the thing that distinguishes me on terrorism is, I have more experience dealing with it.' This pillar of the Giuliani campaign—asserted by pundits as often as it is by the man himself—is based on the idea that Rudy uniquely understands the terror threat because of his background as a prosecutor and as New York's mayor. In a July appearance at a Maryland synagogue, Giuliani sketched out his counterterrorism biography, a resume that happens to be rooted in falsehood.

"As United States Attorney, I investigated the Leon Klinghoffer murder by Yasir Arafat," he told the Jewish audience, referring to the infamous 1985 slaying of a wheelchair-bound, 69-year-old New York businessman aboard the Achille Lauro, an Italian ship hijacked off the the coast of Egypt by Palestinian extremists. "It's honestly the reason why I knew so much about Arafat," says Giuliani. "I knew, in detail, the Americans he murdered. I went over their cases."

On the contrary, Victoria Toensing, the deputy assistant attorney general at the Justice Department in Washington who filed a criminal complaint in the Lauro investigation, says that no one in Giuliani's office "was involved at all." Jay Fischer, the Klinghoffer family attorney who spearheaded a 12-year lawsuit against the PLO, says he "never had any contact with Giuliani or his office. It would boggle my mind if anyone in 1985, 1986, 1987, or thereafter conducted an investigation of this case and didn't call me," he adds. Fischer says he did have a private dinner with Giuliani in 1992: "It was the first time we talked, and we didn't even talk about the Klinghoffer case then."

lots more here, for those who've forgotten just how rotten......

the Voice article was written by the estimable Wayne Barrett, the co-author, with Dan Collins, of Grand Illusion: The Untold Story of Rudy Giuliani and 9/11, published in paperback by HarperCollins, if anyone has the stomach for it.

and thanks to DUer Justitia for the picture, which was the first thing that came up on Google image for 'giuiliani vampire'

just one of 36 examples, but does one need any more:

Here's some things you should know about Rudy Giuliani. I'll repeat the salient points related to 9/11.

(1) Stealing from 9/11 Victims: Giuliani took advantage of grieving widows by diverting a public fund to pay the victims of 9/11 into a private fund run by his closest buddies who stole "fees" front the widows.

ineffectiveness:

Asked at the 9/11 Commission hearing what he would tell leaders in other cities about how to prepare for a similar disaster, Giuliani replied, “The most important recommendation that I would make, put on the top of the list, is that cities should have Offices of Emergency Management. The Office of Emergency Management that we established in ’95, ’96 was invaluable to us.”

This self-congratulation by Giuliani is belied by the facts. As the staff report prepared for the commission pointed out: “Any attempt to establish a unified command on 9/11 would have been frustrated by the lack of communication and coordination among responding agencies. The Office of Emergency Management headquarters, which would have served as a focal point for information-sharing, was evacuated. Even prior to its evacuation, moreover, it did not play an integral role in ensuring that information was shared among agencies on 9/11.

The evacuated OEM headquarters—popularly known as “Rudy’s bunker”—had been established in 1999 on the 23rd floor of 7 World Trade Center, a building adjacent to the Twin Towers. While a number of ranking police officials had argued strongly against the site—pointing out that the trade center remained the most likely target for a terrorist attack—Giuliani shrugged off the warnings and proceeded with a multimillion-dollar contract for the space with developer Larry Silverstein, a prominent contributor to the mayor’s reelection campaign.

The city then proceeded to install—in flagrant violation of building codes—a 6,000-gallon emergency fuel tank above ground level and a 275-gallon tank on the seventh floor. Subsequent investigations have suggested that the ignition of these tanks was the principal cause of 7 World Trade Center’s collapse several hours after the fall of the Twin Towers. Giuliani and other city officials were unable to enter their high-rise bunker on September 11, and its state-of-the art equipment went unused. As for the OEM’s leading personnel, they played virtually no role on the day of the disaster. The agency’s director was Richard Sheirer, whose career as a fire alarm dispatcher took a meteoric rise as a result of his persuading his small municipal union to endorse Giuliani in his 1993 race for mayor.

much, much more at the link, and don't shoot the messenger. the info there is almost all from the Barrett book, Grand Illusion: The Untold Story of Rudy Giuliani and 9/11, With Dan Collins

is Barrett still alive? if so, why can't some enterprising journal put him on to remind the gullible just how egregiously RG's 08 presidential bid failed: everybody who knows him up close hates his guts.....especially his own family!
