ST. LOUIS — Invoking the power of regular people to take on the “rigged system,” Donald J. Trump on Saturday paid his respects to the conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly, while suggesting they were kindred spirits in a shared fight.

“Her legacy will live on every time some underdog, outmatched and outgunned, defies the odds and delivers a win for the people,” the Republican presidential nominee said at Mrs. Schlafly’s funeral service at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis.
