Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI had a run in with a Trump supporter on twitter..
I tweeted in support of Hillary's "deplorable comment." He asked me why I thought it was right to call Trump supporters "deplorable." I tweeted links and examples to him that proves Hillary's point. He clicked and liked the tweet. I couldn't believe that someone who supports Trump wasn't aware that someone like Bannon was running Trump's campaign or that he had David Duke's support. Then I thought, this guy probably lives in the Fox bubble.. Maybe he didn't know. In the end he thanked me for being civil and said he had a lot of "research" to do.

And I am telling you that it is your job now to get active. Get off your duff. Get off your rear end thats getting fatter and fatter for many of you everyday on your chairs. When this shows over, go out, call the Republican Party, but call Donald Trumps headquarters, volunteer. Theyre screaming for volunteers. Go in there, youre gonna meet people who are going to have the same kind of mindset that you have.

I get a sense that most people are too busy to dig down into the details. They, like other VIPs we've come across, just glance at the headline and don't bother with the body of the story.
What it means, at least to me, is that those of us who do have the time and motivation - WE NEED to help educate. In effect, WE have to be the body of the story that the "professional" "journalists" don't bother with, because all they care about is the splashy headlines and the quick hit, quick-&-dirty. So WE have to enlarge and expand, and expound. It falls to US to share the rest of the story and help educate, or debunk, or illuminate. WE have to do that.
It's like WE are the ones who come along after the the parade and clean up. WE become the spin doctors. WE become the REAL curators and information brokers because the negligent pros either can't or won't or don't bother.
Please forgive me for being repetitive, but I had my own experience at the doctor's office. With my doctor and her assistant. They weren't sure about Hillary and had swallowed years of doses of "she-lies,-she's-corrupt-she's-cold-she's-closed-she's-this-she's-that." And they never considered that maybe there's a reason WHY she's so careful with her words and she doesn't like to open up and let too many people in on everything. BECAUSE SHE'S BEEN BURNED!!! FOR 25 YEARS!!! She's had people crawling around in her underwear drawers and trying to examine her bellybutton lint. FOR A QUARTER CENTURY, at least! And, I imagine, even before that, back in the days while she was First Lady of Arkansas, too. I defended Hillary on this basis. And I could tell from the reaction that they had NEVER considered anything remotely like this before. Hadn't occurred to them. THAT'S BECAUSE NOBODY ELSE EVER BROUGHT IT UP! That's because NOBODY EVER SAW IT FROM THAT PERSPECTIVE. That's because NOBODY EVER SAID THAT on any newscast or interview they might have watched, assuming they even have time to do that!
And I think I struck a chord with them. Literally, their "hmm" and their facial expressions told me they hadn't thought of it that way before. That they'd never considered that side of it before. And yeah, maybe it kinda made sense when you look at it that way.

(4,940 posts)Congratulations on an intelligent and insightful reply. I don't know how to Twitter (seriously, I don't), but there have been some GREAT ones shared by friends here and on other forums and even emailed to me. My VERY right-wing but good friend next door guards my Hillary signs (he is a day owl and I'm a night one); did the same for my Bernie signs. AND he is seriously looking at Hillary - once he started paying attention.
He also got a great laugh out of "deplorable" - this guy is economically right wing, not socially. I printed out a poster of the remark for him. He taped it to his front door.
I think Mike will vote for "The Bitch" (his term, but he likes her guts.)
