Lie: "Illegal immigrants are taking good paying American jobs!"

Really? I can't recall the last time I saw an illegal immigrant hold a gun to the head of a person in HR or a hiring manager and demand a job, or else!

If "iilegal immigrants" truly are taking "good paying" American jobs, then ....

Who is doing the hiring?

"Americans don't want to take our shit-paying jobs for illegal immigrants!"

One reason we only count statistics from "nonfarm payrolls"! From wiki: "It does not include farm workers, private household employees, or non-profit organization employees."

other than illegals being available the jobs would pay more. Now here's a lie by a prominent guy:
John McCain: "You know I've heard that statement before. Now, my friends, I'll offer anybody here fifty dollars an hour if you'll go pick lettuce in Yuma this season and pick for the whole season. So, ok, sign up! Ok, when you sign up, you sign up, and you'll be there for the whole season, the whole season, ok, not just one day. Because you can't do it, my friend."

Here's the fucking truth-because I had a family I worked offshore on a fishing boat in February for far less money. The work was as hard and the conditions as bad. It sucked every bit as much and I would guess even a little bit more-the guy who replaced me the following year drowned at sea. If your family is hungry you will do almost anything. But one more fact-If they could have gotten illegals the pay would have been so low as to make the job worthless...

Fellow said that he and his Spouse were applying for Maintenance positions at the local University. They have five positions open and these openings have been in place since May. One would think, outside maintenance job, okay that means manual labor, you are going to start at about 40k with bennies and a pension that is fully vested at 7 years. Holy Cow,we know folks who just graduated from College and are taking inside desk jobs for 30k and bennies that are weak at best.

And if one follows the Manufacturing News Letters, this is what is scary, the lack of new hires that a proficient in modern machining skills. Our Vocational School System has been trashed by the negativity of the Business Press with their continuing bashing of the so called dirty shop floor jobs. When one can easily make 150k a year as a Truck Engine Rebuilder, plus benies. Time for our Politicians to get real.

so I googled....

While it would have been interesting to determine average yearly earnings by region, this was impossible due to the wide range of pay scales within each economic region. However, the typical national yearly earnings for the most experienced and least experienced employees are as follows:

Most experienced managers: $48,619

Least experienced managers: $34,114

Most experienced machinists: $39,917

Least experienced machinists: $25,820

Most experienced parts/sales person: $36,607

Least experienced parts/sales person: $24,572

Remember, this is the average earnings, and “how much you make” can be strongly influenced by other factors.

but saying his income is similar to a rank and file diesel guys is the same as comparing the burger guy at the local Micky D's with that of a cook on an oil rig.
