Florida papers call for investigation of Trump-Bondi bribery scandal!

by Georgia Logothetis
Friday Sep 09, 2016

The Trump-Bondi scandal isn’t going away. First, it was The Miami Herald earlier this week. Now, The Tamba Bay Times joins in, calling for a federal investigation of the matter:

Since Florida prosecutors will not touch this mess, the Justice Department is the only option. The appearance of something more than a coincidence is too serious and the unresolved questions are too numerous to accept blanket denials by Bondi and Trump without more digging and an independent review. ...

The denials by Bondi and Trump of anything amiss also are at odds with their previous actions. The attorney general has not been shy about joining lawsuits with other states, and the New York lawsuit involves Floridians who allege they were cheated by Trump University. Trump had not contributed to Bondi's election campaigns before sending the $25,000, and he was clear during a Republican primary debate about what he expects in return for campaign contributions: "When they call, I give. And you know what? When I need something from them, two years later, three years later, I call them. They are there for me.''

A small bipartisan group of political leaders led by former U.S. Sen. Bob Graham has been urging the Justice Department for years to get more aggressive in investigating corruption in the state capital. A thorough look into Bondi's decisionmaking regarding Trump University and the $25,000 campaign donation would be a good place to start.

The Sun-Sentinel also calls for “an independent federal investigation”:

5. Republicans promise more of the same for President Clinton: Never-ending investigations
Fri Sep 9, 2016, 12:32 PM
Sep 2016

Republicans have already suggested how they're going to sabotage the beginning of a President Clinton's term: they want to bog her first 100 days down with all the stuff they are refusing to do this fall, to make sure she can't use her mandate on new, bold, popular initiatives. So the first 100 days will be eaten up with the detritus of the end of President Obama's term. They have a plan for the rest of her time in office, too. Investigations.

House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) wants answers on the deletion of Clinton emails he says may constitute "destruction of evidence" — and he's willing to use subpoenas to get them. House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) is working on a bill to pull the security clearance of anyone who broke rules governing confidential information, a jab aimed squarely at Clinton and her top aides.

And there’s percolating interest among congressional Republicans in sniffing out any connections between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department — a potential new Clinton probe inspired by reports showing foundation donors securing access to Clinton as secretary of state. CNN reported in August that FBI officials wanted to probe the Foundation connection for conflicts of interest but was slapped down by Justice officials.

Republicans have also signaled interest in diving deeper into questions of whether Clinton or her aides perjured themselves on the email matter.

These investigations are so incredibly slow. Look how long it took the FBI to come to a conclusion on Hillary's email thing.

The election would certainly be done and over before any investigation even gets started. The Feds always take their sweet ass time.

Im not saying they shouldnt do it. But don't expect this to be an issue in this election.

(There still should be an investigation. Trump needs to be held accountable.)

14. Bribery Complaint Filed with DOJ against Trump and Bondi
Fri Sep 9, 2016, 02:59 PM
Sep 2016

A Democratic group affiliated with an anti-Trump super PAC filed a complaint with the Department of Justice on Wednesday night against Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for the $25,000 her re-election fundraising group accepted from the Trump Foundation in 2013.

"We believe that Pam Bondi, Florida Attorney General, and Donald Trump have violated federal voting laws including but not limited to bribery across state lines by way of a $25,000 campaign contribution from Trump to Bondi during her 2013 election by way of the Trump Foundation in return for AG Bondi dropping an investigation into Trump University. We ask the DOJ to investigate this matter," a complaint filed by the Democratic Coalition Against Trump reads.

Now that a complaint has been filed, the Department of Justice is obligated to review it and respond to the group that filed it.

...and it persists despite the buy-outs and the innertubes. The question will be: Will national "journalism" pick it up, or let it die. The national stuff still likes to set the agenda, and indications are they don't want this Bondi thing.

Again, MSM is punch-drunk from years of RW smash-mouth attacks on them as "left-wing," "biased," "commie symps," etc. And in its declining state, MSM fears another campaign to discredit them even further as "leftist." Besides, it can burnish its fading credential by bitch-slapping Clinton and Democrats, since that's what everyone does with NO fear of counter-attack or buy-out by RWs. There is the very real possibility that national MSM will give this some lip service, then the usual-suspect agenda will be picked up once more.

If they don't, it's up to Hillary's surrogates to bring it up every time they appear on any of the news shows.

That's what Republicans do. Whenever they appear on CNN or MSNBC and are asked to discuss a subject, they always manage to bring up Benghazi or Emails.
