Why FOX News is poisonous to our discourse?

Basically, they are a political propaganda network. Although they may insert some legitimate news stories into their coverage, in the end, they are going to present an opposing view to whatever the Democratic Party and its ally, the "liberal media", might present.

If the Democrats say it is "day", they will report that it is "night". If the Democrats say that Trump is a "racist', they will report otherwise. That may be a legitimate political argument?

But at what point does it conflict with reality so much that people are confused from the opposing representations? They say that they are the ones that are "fair and balanced". But, are they?

For example, when someone says that Donald Trump is a quiet and humane person, that simply does not compute? Reality and facts are important. Very important.

To create stories or narratives to fit a political agenda can create conflicts within the minds of a gullible public. It is not "reporting". It is not "news". It is pure political propaganda.

Partisanship would be easily recognized by a large group of Americans. They would not go there, in my opinion.

I do think Trump, after he loses, will deliver a more ideologically pure alternative.

Ideology is the enemy. People use it like religion. It is faith based and anti-intellectual. Adherents are zealots. However I think FoxPAC reinforces the ideology, not the other way around.

Ideology is a system of beliefs and could apply to anything.

7. All use of news media to use push a political narrative

Is reprehensible. That includes MSNBC. To claim that propaganda and handpicking stories to fit a narrative is a right wing only behavior is just too convenient.

hand wringing is also very convenient

nice try; thanks for playing

using msnbc as an example of "left wing" narrative building is laughable, especially when you take the ridiculous twits that inhabit their coverage until the evening, during which time chris Matthews pollutes the scene with his own faux macho, codpiece worshipping false equivalency parade. the only ones that provide any sense of balance to the venal pronouncements of the rest of the corporate media are the ones that follow him, and the occasional appearances of Joy Reid (she does have her own show on weekend mornings, and to be fair, often goes over the line in the other direction. that said, she just doesn't put up with the constant barrage of subject changing obfuscation with which the organized surrogates are clearly assigned to push at the most obnoxious levels imaginable, boris epshteyn's laughable performance on CNN today being a prime example)

12. Pew research analysis of bias in news media

You can dismiss me and engage in snark. I really don't care. There is a distinct lack of consistency when it comes to condemnation of the media in regards to bias.

I am on my phone which is why I did not look up the link and post it.

for every Pew poll I can cite one that shows how completely biased against the Clintons, gore, Kerry, etal, have been. how far back do you care to go

hurry, though, cause I'm outta here

let's start here: I tried to find some links to support my thesis, and look what came up when I google this:

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=media+bias+against+democrats

almost EVERY single link takes you to a conservative site, claiming the opposite. wonder why that could ever be

let's start here, with a link that puts the lie to perhaps the most common fairy tale about so-called left leaning journalists, themselves (while, of course ignoring the obvious fact of the ownership of all major media by anti-democratic {small 'd'} monopoly capitalists of the lowest order)

http://fair.org/blog-entries/2009/10/09/cjrs-bogus-liberal-media-evidence/comment-page-1/

....FAIR released {''a study''...my edit, for continuity} in 1998, where journalists’ views on important economic policy questions were compared with public opinion poll results on the same issues. Journalists were, it turns out, well to the right of the public on most issues; when asked to classify themselves, the majority were center-left on social issues, and center-right on economic issues. But the main finding was this:

◾On select issues from corporate power and trade to Social Security and Medicare to healthcare and taxes, journalists are actually more conservative than the general public.

read the comments....most are equally on point, except a few by raving imbeciles

buh bye

from too much junk food, football, NASCAR, and Sean Hannity. Throw in Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, a four-wheeler, an alligator, and the American flag and you are on your way to enlightenment.

the only thing in that list to have infected me is junk food, and even that's not frequent.

Seriously...why do humans need someone else to do their thinking for them, someone to follow? We simply cannot overcome herd/pack instincts?
