might well cause the GOP to try even extreme measures such as this.

(Yes, those people who love to whine that nothing ever changes are doomed to always be wrong, including their peculiar but seemingly unkillable delusion that all change is in our control.)

No matter what happens on Nov. 8, though, the makeup of Congress will have changed--somewhat, and of the GOP, and therefore to at least some degree its dynamics. Yet more of the dwindling tea party class of 2010 are leaving congress this year, didn't even run for reelection. Out of the 87 2010 TPers, over a third will be gone in 2017--NOT counting any who lose reelection.

We can also be sure that, if the GOP doesn't finally crash -- and even if it were to somehow able to hang onto a majority in the Senate -- conservatives will be extremely angry and unhappy with their party and its factions will still be engaged in civil war against each other, and that includes the so-called "indies."

Just can't begin to guess how this will work out. Just hope we succeed in simplifying matters greatly for them on November 8.

is that they will immediately declare Clinton a "lame duck" and demand that "the next President" should get to appoint a nominee to fill the vacancy- if they hold on to the Senate. I wish that I could be more hopeful that this wouldn't happen but.........

10. If they hold the Senate, I doubt they would blockade as they have this year

The practical affect would be no different, but they would likely hold hearings and a vote on Clinton nominees, even if the process was designed to fail, and proclaim that they will only confirm a Scalia clone.

Luckily, their chances at keeping the Senate is very slim!
