If you haven't, try to find it. It's from 1970 and was, in my opinion, a breakout performance for the comic actor. A very young Margot Kidder is also pretty great in it.

(23,569 posts)Harrison Ford was in that one, too. (Harrison Ford had a Jewish grandparent so that was probably fun for him, too).
Very cute little Jewish western comedy.

Early Woody Allen movie. Gene does a skit where he falls in love with a sheep, and it is one of the funniest things I have every seen. I think he's underrated as an actor, and he is amazing in this one. The look on his face as he is falling for the sheep is priceless.

Understated and solid performance.

(7,350 posts)An obscure 1974 movie version of the Ionesco play I remember seeing once on PBS in the 80s. With Zero Mostel, Wilder, and Karen Black, I remember it being a rather stagey film, not an entirely successful translation to film, but I was a lot younger and maybe not so patient then. Found the trailer, the performances look great (with Mostel & Wilder together again, how could they not?), I'd be interested in rewatching it, if I could find it!
(on edit) I'd like to see Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx and The Frisco Kid, two more films I now nothing about.
I also remember Gene had a small role in 1967's Bonnie and Clyde, been so long since I've seen that classic, now I'll have that one on my list too!
