Didn't Reagan tell a reporter to "sit down and shut up" ?

I swear I'm not dreaming this. It was 1981 or 1982, and some reporter had either interrupted him or asked him a question (I think about PATCO) that he really really didn't like.

I've been internet searching but all I get so far is him telling a heckler to "aw shut up".

This thread prompted this.

I swear, I remember the incident with Reagan back in the day. I even remember seeing it depicted on the web. So far I'm too lazy to search through all his news conference transcripts, yuck.

'I paid for this microphone, Mr. Breen' It was a line directly out of some movie, practically.

It was sometime in 1992, and I'm sure it can be found in the C-Span archives if you have the time to search.

It was like a one day news story and quickly went down the black hole after that.

One can only imagine the explosion of rage if Bill Clinton had done such a thing. I'm still angry at how he was booed and heckled at the Vietnam Memorial (in the middle of giving a speech in which he praised Vietnam veterans effusively) on Memorial Day 1993.
