Texas man charged with beheading wife after police visit

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/texas-man-beheading-wife-police-visit/

BELLMEAD, Texas -- Police say a Texas man is accused of beheading his wife just hours after officers visited the couple for a welfare check.

Bellmead police Sgt. Kory Martin says officers visited 23-year-old Davie Dauzat and his 21-year-old wife, Natasha, on Thursday at their mobile home in Bellmead after a relative called police. Officers found no trouble and left.

Martin says a relative called police again two hours later to say Dauzat had killed his wife. Police returned and found Natasha Dauzat had been decapitated. The couple’s two toddlers were home, but not hurt.

Didn't hear much about this. I wonder why?

Davie Dauzat, 23, remains in the McLennan County Jail where he was ordered held on a $500,000 bond, charged with murder in the death, authorities said.

His wife, Natasha Dauzat, 21, was beheaded and her head was placed in the refrigerator, a source close to the investigation confirmed Thursday afternoon.

Police confirmed late Friday afternoon that officers were sent to the couple’s home a little more than two hours before Natasha Dauzat was killed after receiving a call from Davie Dauzat’s brother at around 8:20 a.m. Thursday.

Got it in one.

DV is a real issue with real victims and costs real lives. I refuse to brush it off, as so many do, as a deflection, distraction or talking point. IMO victims matter more than means.

and another in OK where a man killed his next door neighbor happened a very short time after police found "no trouble" and left. Protect and serve or cover your ass?

They showed up and both husband and wife appeared fine. How exactly would police predict he was going to kill her?

For better or worse (usually the latter) the police are the first, last, and only agency we have to solve societal problems. Expect sloppy surgery.
