Google alt-right, click on Wikipedia, and here's what you'll get:
That seems pretty accurate to me. And it includes the people who currently surround and advise Donald Trump.
Conservatives have always been brilliant when it comes to describing a sack of radioactive dung as "a harmless paperweight." But "alt-right" is a term that just knocks reality out of the ballpark.
And, of course, the media has picked up on it. Heaven forbid they should call out a candidate as a racist or white supremacist.
For the past year, Donald Trump has demonstrated who and what he is. Why would anyone buy "The New Trump" from the "alt-right" propagandists he's recently hired?
And, yes. There are people out there dense enough to believe it. But for every one of them, there are millions more who see through it.
But even with the help of the "alt-right," Donald Trump will not be the next president. However, the anger he's turned loose will live on long after he climbs up to his tower where he will continue to tweet out venom, hatred and lies.

(14,853 posts)Sandy Hook was faked, police killed the victims in the Orlando shootings, the Clintons have murdered numerous political associates, etc.
They're idiots.
Despite the lack of evidence and how it makes no sense, imagine really believing that the Clintons murdered scores of people. That's why many Trump supporters will never support Hillary no matter what he says or does.
It also makes me fear for Hillary's safety. People who are convinced by such nonsense are about as dangerous as someone who is schizophrenic and prone to illusory messages from the devil through their cats.

(14,853 posts)I especially thought that was the case since he was mentioned in Hillary's "alt-right speech" in Reno.
Even if that's the wrong label, I've met kooks who think like what I described above. Some of them aren't bigots, but they sure seem to have sh*t for brains.

Teabaggers, for the most part, have been Republicans who bought into a more extremist (moronic) version of the crap that GOP has been peddling for decades.
The alt-right, on the other hand, seems to be comprised of fringe lunatics like Neo-Nazis, white supremacist groups and other groups, many of which are on the Southern Poverty Law Center list of terrorist groups.

(53,410 posts)I don't think their world views are all that different. Red Hot Unrelenting Hatred of The Other is a common thread.

(5,049 posts)Is more like it. White supremacists are trying a little PR to clean up their image. Don't fall for it. They are the same KKK, Aryian Nations, And White Aryian Resistance scumbags they have always been. Don't let them squirm out of the spotlight.
You read my mind.

(14,918 posts)slightly hip (like alt-rock or something) ring to it that is at odds with how vile and evil it is. Spare us the euphemisms....let's just name it for what it is...extreme racism, anti-Semitism, nativism, and latter-day Ku Klux Klan mentality.

(22,670 posts)& probably most of the public's a few days ago. I'd never heard of Alt-Right before. But the more I learn, the more it terrifies me that this is the perfect description for the people I know who are Drumpf supporters.
It's sickening to see people turned into programmable bots, repeating whisper campaigns and bigoted ugliness, simply from what they've heard from RW mouthpieces. Sickening and scary actually. Makes me feel like I'm living in 1932 Germany while Adolf Hitler was rising to power.

(55,445 posts)What's the difference between the so-called "Alt Right" and the Teabaggers (remember when they were the cool new kids and now they don't even warrant mention anymore)?

(2,495 posts)And unlike the Tea Party which was actually started in Astro-turf fashion by the Kochs and others alt-right is truly more grass roots.
The Tea Party had more connection to supposed conservative ideology like concerns about debt and free markets. That can probably be attributed to its being started by the likes of the Kochs.
The alt right on the other hand is almost entirely focused on hatred of multi-culturalism and gender equality, which they think is leading to the downfall of America. That's why Trump can oppose "free trade" and concerns about debt, etc. They don't care about any of that. They are focused on white male grievance.

(2,495 posts)the alt-right has stranger nooks and crannies to it such as those who think democracy itself needs to be abandoned because after all if the "inferior races" can vote then how can we ever escape them dragging us down? And again, they don't care , or even pretend to care, about conservative philosophy in general.

(15,035 posts)a Teabagger a "White Supremacist," or a Nazi wannabe.
On the other hand, it seems that "Alt-right" people are consistently labeled "white supremacists" and neo Nazis on-line, but never in the media.
Blue_Tires, do your own research on google. Type in different things like "alt-right," Breibart, right wing fringe groups, etc. Also, check out the Southern Poverty Law Center. They keep track of racist and home-grown terrorist groups countrywide. And they have a great track record of shutting them down, countrywide, using the courts.
And for everyone else reading this who uses computers in the library, you are working in a house of knowledge. Explore it. Use it. Never stop learning.

If you want to see Alt-Right in action, venture into the sewage pit that is Vox Day's website. I had an online drive-by from his followers a year or so ago when I reviewed a book that had a transgender character. 2000 hits directed from his site - not a single comment. Because ultimately, they're cowards when not hiding behind anonymous usernames and Twitter handles.

(15,035 posts)From the Southern Poverty Law Center website:
The best example of that is probably the term cuckservative a combination of cuckold and conservative, coined to castigate Republican politicians who are seen as traitors to their people who are selling out conservatives with their support for globalism and certain liberal ideas. The phrase has a racist undertone, as some of its backers have suggested, implying that establishment conservatives are like white men who allow black men to sleep with their wives.

(13,616 posts)Is that even most teabaggers have to give lip service to democracy and cannot embrace racism openly. Many on the alt-right are outright enemies who say loud and clear that they think democracy is a crime and that racism is realism.

(15,035 posts)IMO, most people, even informed people, don't know what "alt-right" means.
Hillary brought it to the forefront the other day.
Now it's up to all of us to define it on every site possible and to every person we know.
As I said earlier, I didn't know what it meat until I googled it.
Each and every one of us must let everyone we know that Trump is being backed by the worst of human species. (Read up thread if you don't know what I'm talking about.)
