This makes me so sad. Love Larry Wilmore and the show is so right-on. What is CC thinking?

(7,429 posts)I also think he had a lot to live up to. Colbert was massive. Larry is a little more subdued.

(24,229 posts)I love Larry and most of the show but the show's bit/sketch material was not very good.
The cast he had was not "awesome."
The women on the show were fantastic but the guys, except for Mike Yard, were lacking in charisma.
The Daily Show was great because of their cast, still is, and TNS never jelled with their fake bits playing fake people.
Also it never helps when your show-runner (Rory) decides he'd rather be an on-air comic instead of focusing making a great show.
TDS worked because they sent the correspondents out into the real world.
TNS built a fake world within their studio and it didn't work.
I will miss this show but have a feeling Black-ish is about to get even better. (Wilmore's production company produces it)
But mostly I'm going to blame Rory for taking his eye off the ball.
