Trump campaign meltdown: Paul Manafort paid off by Russia, Roger Stone attacks Corey Lewandowski

http://www.dailynewsbin.com/news/trump-campaign-meltdown-paul-manafort-a-paid-russian-agent-roger-stone-attacks-corey-lewandowski/25660/

August 14, 2016

In the hours since the New York Times uncovered millions of dollars in illegal secret cash payments made from a Vladimir Putin puppet to Donald Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, all hell has broken loose within the Trump campaign – and much of it is playing out in public for all to see. One of Trump’s top surrogates is publicly gloating over Manafort’s criminal connections, while another top Trump surrogate is publicly accusing a fellow Trump surrogate of “working for Hillary Clinton.”

The Trump campaign meltdown began late Sunday evening when the NY Times published the story exposing Manafort’s millions of dollars in hidden illegal payments from Vladimir Putin lackey Viktor Yanukovych. Corey Lewandowski, who had been Trump’s campaign manager until he was fired this spring and replaced with Manafort, tweeted out a link to the article as if to gloat about the fact that his replacement is being taken down by a corruption scandal.

Even as Corey Lewandowski was enjoying his revenge, another Trump surrogate Roger Stone got wind of it and fired back by claiming that Lewandowski was now “working for Hillary Clinton” by way of calling him a traitor. Lewandowski actually works as a commentator on CNN now, and it’s not clear what his on-air approach will be to the Manafort story, as CNN wasn’t broadcasting live news on Sunday evening while the drama was exploding.

Meanwhile Donald Trump himself has had nothing to say about the matter, but he now has several problems. There’s the fact that he may have to fire Paul Manafort due to his illegal financial connections to Russia’s Putin. There’s the fact that Corey Lewandowski appears to be so excited by the downfall of Manafort he’s no longer remaining loyal to Trump. And there’s the fact that Roger Stone is now publicly attacking Lewandowski. It all leads to the question of just who might be running Donald Trump’s campaign by the time the smoke clears tomorrow – if there is indeed anything left of his already dying campaign to salvage.
__________________________________________________________________

Oh yes, oh yes. These slimeballs are turning on each other and being exposed for the people they really are. Let the circular firing squad commence!

Doing the happy happy dance.

Mon Aug 15, 2016, 10:43 AM
Aug 2016

Accepting money from foreign powers, to finance a presidential election is against the law! Comey tried Clinton in the media! By announcing an ongoing FBI investigation of a national political figure, Comey set aside important protocol. Most local police spokespeople refuse to make statements, to the press - especially about suspects - in ongoing criminal investigations.

The daughter of GOP nominee Donald Trump shared a scenic snap with Wendi Deng Murdoch, the ex-wife of billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch, from Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Trump, 34, was spotted with husband Jared Kushner in the city's old town, seemingly taking a couple's vacation without their three children – Arabella, 5, Joseph, 2, and Theodore, 4 months.

I couldn't IMAGINE leaving my son for more than 8 hours when he was 4 months old--he was still breastfeeding. And she also has a 5 year old and a 2 year old. I just couldn't do that. And why Croatia of all places?

Many are a lot closer to home. It just seems like an odd, tone deaf choice, particularly with the firestorm over Trump's/Manafort's Putin connections.

Last time I travelled along the Dalmatian coast, the locals were rankled by the fact that Russians have bought up some of the nicest resorts along the Southern Adriatic. They feared it will become the "Russian Riviera."

Why leave three very small children to travel to the other side of the globe to an area that raises these issues? Was Manafort their travel agent?

But the 47-year-old businesswoman ridiculed the rumors, telling Vogue she 'never even met Putin'.

He's going to HAVE to call for a removal vote if Trump doesn't have Manaforts head to deliver up tomorrow. It's the only way they salvage the House now. Probably the Senate is lost to them already anyway. So it's down to this: get TehDonald to publicly humiliate his own campaign (which won't happen) or enrage the base to such an extent that the establishment GOP won't be able to bribe their way to a national win for another 20 years.

Perhaps we should all kick into the kitty to send Mr Prebius a very expensive bottle of scotch for all the fine work he's done for the Democratic Party this year...I have a feeling he's going to need it now =)

24. So back in July, Putin's FBI tried to hack a DNC staffer who was investigating Paul Manafort
Mon Aug 15, 2016, 02:23 AM
Aug 2016
https://www.yahoo.com/news/exclusive-hacked-emails-of-dnc-oppo-researcher-point-to-russians-and-wider-penetration-154121061.html

<...>

Asked about charges by Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook that “Russian state actors” hacked the DNC in order to help Trump, who has made sympathetic comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin, Manafort on Sunday dismissed the charges in multiple television interviews as “absurd” and “crazy.” The claims are “pure obfuscation on the part of the Clinton campaign,” Manafort said on ABCs “This Week.” “What they don’t want to talk about is what’s in those emails.”

In mid-June, Democratic Party suspicions about the hackers seemed to be confirmed when CrowdStrike, an outside security firm retained by the DNC, reported that it traced the hackers to two separate units linked to Russia’s security services: the FSB, Russia’s equivalent of the FBI, and GRU, the country’s military intelligence agency. The company noted strong similarities between the attack on the DNC by the suspected GRU hackers and previous cyberintrusions of unclassified systems at the White House, the State Department and the offices of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. (After discovering the data breach, a DNC security source said its cyberexperts noted that the hackers’ exfiltration of files took place “9 to 5, Moscow time.”) An FBI official confirmed that the bureau has been investigating the breach for some time, and, according to one source familiar with the matter, Director James Comey has been personally briefed.

<...>

There are also signs that the Obama administration is taking the matter more seriously. The Washington Post reported Monday that White House officials convened a high-level security meeting last Thursday, hours before WikiLeaks began posting the emails, to review information about the DNC attack. Party officials are privately pushing the White House to publicly blame the Russians in the same way it blamed North Korea for the cyberattack on Sony and China for intrusions into U.S. companies. “The last time somebody broke into the DNC, it led to the resignation of a president,” said the Democratic Party security source, referring to the Watergate scandal. In some ways, the source insisted, the current cyberheist — what some in party circles are already calling a “21st century Watergate” — is even more sinister, the source said. “This is the Russians screwing with the integrity of our election process.”
__________________________________________________________________

Manafort's response? You guessed it - "But, but, but Hillary's emails!!!"

And Trump has been encouraging this kind of thing in his campaign speeches. I mean...this is just incredible. This is going to blow up BIG LEAGUE! This is undeniable corruption. This is going to be the story for the whole week! At least!!

25. FSB is like a combination FBI and CIA
Mon Aug 15, 2016, 02:37 AM
Aug 2016

Unlike the US, which divides its intelligence apparatus up by function - foreign intelligence (CIA), signals intelligence and signals security (NSA), counterintelligence (FBI), satellite intelligence (National Reconnaissance Office) - the Russians, and the Soviets before them, divide their apparatus into civilian intelligence (Soviet KGB, Russian FSB) and military intelligence (GRU). So instead of Trump being beholden to the Russian version of FBI, he's beholden to the Russian version of CIA. Yes, I know they're the same agency but saying Trump is a "Russian CIA plant" sounds more ominous than saying he's a "Russian FBI plant."

The only thing they could possibly need a Russian like Putin for is as a patsy so they don't get blamed for the crime this time. Nixon couldn't just pin Watergate on the Russians because real people got caught, not just the spyware. In fact, the new Manafort "revelations" play into blaming Russia instead of the Republicans.

While this entire scandal sounds very juicy, I just can't get it out of my head that it's somehow too good to be true. It would certainly be a black eye to a lot of the press if this story were fake, and wouldn't hurt DonTheCon either.

The New York Times and other sources have revealed all sorts of other evidence. This isn't a matter of a single piece of paper.

about his campaign imploding

Mark Halperin very gloomily states that, while trump will get more electoral votes than the times, he's making a mistake running against them.

he then grudgingly says that the story has 'pretty good journalism' in it

But if the major new outlets have proof, he just got is out from the presidential race: I wonder if the summer vaca was ok's by fRump so he'd have an escape plan. The timing would be perfect.

The RNC will NEVER live this down.

guises, as the manafort scandal

I wish I'd been keeping time, but I'm guessing they've spent more time on Hillary than PM so far today. it's going to be interesting to see if they decide this story deserves to be expanded upon. one never knows. lewandowski was going ape over it this morning with chris Cuomo, and he was pretty much let off the hook.

as I type this msnbc is touting the "Clinton campaign braces for release of FBI interview notes" under the heading "Clinton Email scandal"

not kidding....it's still on, minus the ''email scandal'' heading, but that's how they started it

“Handwritten ledgers show $12.7 million in undisclosed cash payments designated for Mr. Manafort from (Viktor) Yanukovych’s pro-Russian political party from 2007 to 2012, according to Ukraine’s newly formed National Anti-Corruption Bureau. Investigators assert that the disbursements were part of an illegal off-the-books system whose recipients also included election officials,” Andrew E. Kramer, Mike McIntire and Barry Meier report from Kiev. “In addition, criminal prosecutors are investigating a group of offshore shell companies that helped members of Mr. Yanukovych’s inner circle finance their lavish lifestyles … Among the hundreds of murky transactions these companies engaged in was an $18 million deal to sell Ukrainian cable television assets to a partnership put together by Mr. Manafort and a Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, a close ally of President Vladimir V. Putin.”

“Before he fled to Russia two years ago, Mr. Yanukovych and his Party of Regions relied heavily on the advice of Mr. Manafort and his firm, who helped them win several elections,” the story notes. “During that period, Mr. Manafort never registered as a foreign agent with the United States Justice Department — as required of those seeking to influence American policy on behalf of foreign clients — although one of his subcontractors did.”

In the 400-page ledger kept at party headquarters, inside a room which contained two safes full of $100 bills, Manafort’s name appeared 22 times over five years, according to Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau, which obtained the document and has an evidence-sharing agreement with the FBI. The Times says the purpose of the payments is not specified. Manafort lawyer Richard Hibey said his client never received the cash in question and did nothing illegal or corrupt.

Speaking as someone who has a story coming this week: This is just the beginning for Manafort. It gets worse.
