Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI predict that Trump will drop out before the election.
It probably won't happen until shortly before the election but if defeat becomes inevitable he will leave just so he won't have to suffer a definitive loss.
Can you imagine him giving a concession speech? I can't.
He will come up with some flaky excuse blaming someone else, walk out and for the rest of his days deny that he lost.
That will leave Hillary as the only viable choice and no reason for Trump supporters to vote at all.
It's going to be a strange presidential election.
That's my prediction.

This is a clown who rose to prominence for the last decade on the tails of a shit TV show and a fake obsession with the President's birth certificate (or rather whatever attention could be grifted from that for free...)
The Talking Yam won't drop out, he'll just try to drag the country down into his loss and the morass that is his soul.

(70,706 posts)even with limited time, but our electoral system is ridiculously inflated anyway (we just need 6 weeks).
The Repukes can't stand for the debacle of pulling the plug like this. Losing on Election Day, fine. They don't believe in elections anyway. They don't believe in government and governing anyway. They will proceed, no matter what, to obstruct-obstruct-obstruct then impeach-impeach-impeach anyway.

(14,400 posts)He'll whine about stolen votes and voter fraud but he'll be smoked and remain the standard bearer of what remains of the Republican party. We'll see what, if anything, rises from those ashes.

(25,862 posts)In fact, if I counted correctly, only 13 states have no form of early voting at all.
So if he drops outs relatively close to election day, any number of citizens will have already voted for him. Not too many, we can hope. But it's hard to imagine the chaos that would ensue, and how he might be replaced.
If he loses (which looks quite likely at this point) we can all be certain he will do his best to claim the election was stolen. He'll make Karl Rove's meltdown in 2012 look like a reasoned response to what happened in Ohio. Trump will do his best to bully his way into the White House. I'm sure he'll be filing multiple lawsuits to try to change the election results.

Trump supporters seldom vote. And they won't show up in November. A pox on them.
