his creepy lawyer.

He goes right up to the line of no return and then comes to a screetching halt. Plus he always leaves himself some wiggle room just in case he goes just a tad too far.

and now this ISIS founder foolishness is just something yell out before he hits the ground.

He's lost and knows it and is just saying the most outrageous things he can think of to dominate the news cycle.

The thinking was he would pivot after the primaries and change his message to something of substance but the general election campaign has revealed who trump really is.

A supreme narcissist a megalomaniac and attention whore addicted to the spotlight. It's all, "hey, look at me, listen to what I just said"

pretty much the truth. The Rethugs plan ever talking point day to day. And they stay on message. We Dem do the opposite, our Candidates tend to be more Educated and are able to talk and chew gum. There fore, most stump speeches are loosely scripted and the use of extemporaneous style of presentation is preferred.

that may also provide even more justification for some crackpot to grab his guns and follow through with Trump's suggested solution.

Obama's approval ratings keep going up. This will simply turn off more undecideds.

perhaps at one of the debates, but they had to deploy it now to change the topic, as you say. Its a common accusation on the right - linking Obama and the Arab Spring to ISIL. Just Google "Obama Cairo Speech" and plan to take a shower afterwards.

Telling millions of Sunni Arabs they had a right to Democracy is in keeping with our values, of course, but, well, they listened and acted. The speech did have unintended consequences: the Moktar Bel Moktar Islamists who seized Timbuktu with Gaddafi's weapons, for instance. the Egyptian Military acted rather than let Egypt be ruled by the Islamic Brotherhood (to the relief of the vast majority of Egyptians, I assume), and shit fell apart when the dictators fought back in Libya and Syria.

However, Trump's campaign has succeeded in doing what they need to do to have a shot: devolve the race into a shouting match, where his histrionics become normalized, and Clinton's speech gets relegated to the background. Keep the focus on Trump, all publicity is good publicity, etc. They think they can goad Clinton into a mistake - he'll try to gaslight her and gish gallop her at all the debates.

Plan on it.
