Donald Trump: I meant that Obama founded ISIS, literally (Updated 12:47 PM ET)

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump said Thursday that he meant exactly what he said when he called President Barack Obama the "founder of ISIS" and objected when a conservative radio show host tried to clarify the GOP nominee's position.

Trump was asked by host Hugh Hewitt about the comments Trump made Wednesday night in Florida, and Hewitt said he understood Trump to mean "that he (Obama) created the vacuum, he lost the peace."

Trump objected.

"No, I meant he's the founder of ISIS," Trump said. "I do. He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award. I give her, too, by the way, Hillary Clinton."

Especially after his comments this morning, that he wasn't going to change how he campaigns, that he's doing great, and if he loses (then said which he doesn't think he will), he will take a long vacation.

Is he wants to win,but deep down he knows he cannot win although he is still clinging to hope. The reason he will keep say outlandish things is to set himself up for when he loses. Then he will keep saying crazy stuff during the next 4 to 8 years of the Clinton Presidency to draw media attention to himself.

Realize that the only possible way to keep this thing even respectably close is to ignore the quite realistically pointless chance to expand his coalition and base of support, as that ship has sailed, but concentrate on boosting turnout from the hateful, bigoted loony fringe jingoistic know-nothings who are his only real bloc of voters. They are numerous indeed, but I have to imagine they are not the 70 million or so he will need.

He's rigging the ISIS most valuable player vote. How can there be two most valuable players, either you're the most valuable or you aren't. This is crazy. If I was ISIS then I'd demand a recount on the voting process.

He's got them over a barrel...they either pay him to quit, or he ruins their entire party by association.

They don't seem to want to pay the ransom Trump is demanding.

Time is running out.
