Yay! So happy for Madison and Darla!

Maddison Armer is an adorable 7-year-old girl who loves her dog Darla.

They’ve been best friends since Darla was a puppy, and Darla has been instrumental in helping the little girl deal with her autism and ADHD.

But on July 16, that connection was broken when police officers from Lancaster, Maddison’s home town in the north of England, knocked on her front door, demanding to take Darla away.

Maddison tried to stop them by hiding in the bathroom with her best friend, but it didn’t work. The police had a warrant stating that Darla might be dangerous around children, and they seized the dog in spite of the family’s protestation that she was nothing but calm and sweet.

Maddison’s mom, Jenny Armer, explained to the Lancaster Guardian, “I was given the option to put [Darla] to sleep and kill her or go to court and fight this and this is what I’m going to do, despite the risk of prison. I’ve been told I will only be prosecuted if I had known she was a pit bull type when I bought her. It is really upsetting, Maddison doesn’t understand what has happened. .. She is not a dangerous dog. I am a qualified nursery nurse and I would never put any child in danger.”

1. When I was a kid, Doberman's were the bad, scary dogs. Now it's pit bulls.

When are we going to realize, there are no bad dogs, only bad humans. Bad humans can have such a negative impact so many other lives.

Glad they are reunited. What a great pic!

Bad owners make bad dogs. I once heard that Dalmations are the most dangerous dogs!

usually do well with little kids. Of course, after the Disney movie every kid in the country wanted a Dalmatian, and when they turned out to be not great with kids, they got dumped at sherlters.

Another child had been badly bitten by a Dalmation. That is when I first learned about these breed concerns. The information you gave is very informative. And it is yet another indictment against inbreeding dogs. grrrr
